I totally agree Chippy they should not be driving. People with bad eyesight prescribed to wear glasses for driving and do not should also be taken to task.
Flip flops and stillettos too
Wearing earbuds.
Smoking while driving
Eating while driving
Dogs in front cars seats not tethered so they can jump around
Have I missed any?

What about prescription drugs? Lots of the stuff I used to take said..no driving or operating machinery because basically you were bombed off your head taking it.
You would also fail if you'd been eating anything with poppy seeds...and I doubt it you'd explain that away coz they wouldn't be interested in the slightest. Just like if you get a drugs test in work.

Drives me mad when you watch car reviews and the person says "the touch screen volume slider is hard to use when on the move" do they not realise thats why they have a volume control on the steering wheel

Name a make and model of car that requires you to take your eyes off the road and touch the screen while moving to control it.

Many touch screens have info about the car that you access in flight, but although relevant to the journey isn't controlling the car intrinsically.

Daft thing, if you're in stationary traffic and not going anywhere, it seems you can still be charged for eating / drinking behind the wheel.

Where I live, I often have to drive past distilleries. And the thought of thousands of barrels of whisky, aging in hundreds bonded warehouses, is a huge distraction.
It's not my fault, if I'm then driving without distraction!

Rule 97 of the Highway Code states that the footwear and clothing that you choose to wear whilst driving must not prevent you from using the controls in the correct manner.

Wearing flip flops whilst driving can certainly be seen as an infringement of this rule, as your feet can slip and slide whilst wearing them.

What this means is that you can get in trouble from the law if you’re in an accident and the police see that you’re wearing flip flops to drive. You are liable for a charge cited as ‘driving without due care and attention’. This charge can result in a £100 on-the-spot fine, as well as three penalty points on your licence.

I would love to see how a court would prove a person had a crash because they became distracted due to breathing deeply.

I drive as much as possible in bare feet / socks. Great mpg efficiency achieved. Just have to make sure the shoes are well out of the way.

Young lad works with me been pulled multiple times as he drives a very nice GT something or other...wearing them slip on sandle things. Never been told about his footwear. If I was a rozzer and pulled him I would give him a ticket coz he wears them with socks...

Earlier in the summer my son let me drive his 300 bhp Seat Leon Cupra over the horseshoe pass to visit the Ponderosa cafe, this thing has launch control flappy paddles or full auto and cupra mode, for those who don't know this road starts just outside Llangollan and is a blanket 50mph road with sequential cameras, i have ridden it many times on a motor bike, i set the speed limiter to 50mph wow it went over there like it was nothing it is so good in the corners at 50 you don't have to try, had i knocked the limiter off i could have easily took some of those bends 15mph faster, there is a need for speed limits were cars and bikes with this kind of power. i might buy him a track day for his birthday it's the only way you will get to know what it can do

All touch screens should be voice activated can't be that hard for makers to do this,
