If for any number of reasons my brew dosent do everything its supposed to do, is it likely to make me ill?
I ask as this is my first brew and I'm not sure how everything works yet.
Not wanting to invite friends over for the grand tasting only to find a que for the toilet and a shortage of toilet paper.

It's more likely you get ill drinking at a pub (beer liunes not clean).
in 20+ years I have never experienced any adverse health effects from drinking homemade beer or wine.
Of course, drinking too much can make you ill !!!
Enjoy your fiurst brew yourself - if you are impressed do another one and then invite your friends....

I once found one of my guests curled around the toilet fast asleep after a tasting, does that count?

are you doing can kits or all grain all i can say if doing can kits try the 3kgs kits ie woodfords etc you wont go wrong with 3kgs kits if you ask me :thumb:

I made one a few months back as an experiment, it was that strong 1 pint was as bad as drinking a bottle of wine.

However about 3 months of sitting in a cool place, rounded out till it was palatable. I finished them off with my imaginary friend, and neither him nor I had any ill effects. Although I haven't seen him since.
