Definitely could be. A lot of the wording and fonts used seem the same or very similar..

I asked about supply and the response was:

Hello Martin. Thank you for your email regarding our home brew kits. Your email was passed onto our buyers and they have confirmed that this item is being discontinued. Once the discounted stock in stores is sold out we will not be stocking the item again. I am sorry I could not help more. Kind Regards Liz B&M Customer Services

i did the real ale and the tequila lime weeks ago. real ale in pressure barrel bottled the tequila lime
real ale crap bitter watery ***** the tequila turned out good taste a bit like a larger shandy to be honest perhaps a small dry hop next time

Brewed 2 different real ales with dme and different hop variations. Made up to 10 litres not 11.5 and has given really good results. Will buy more again if cheap enough to play around with.

Bottled the Tequila and Lime Lager last weekend and popped it in the airing cupboard for a week at 25c. Took it out yesterday and put it into the garage - it was already crystal clear. However, went to take a look today and it's no longer clear, in fact it has, what seems to be, a rather nasty haze. Have I done something wrong and will the haze clear in its own good time?

Mine did the same when chilled, all gone now unfortunately but have another 12l batch to bottle tomorrow.

IMG_0004.JPG Tried the real ale tonight. I didnt hold up much hope for this, but it's now very nice, slight chill haze, but lovely sweet caramel after taste. Doubled up on this kit, and added 500g of medium spray malt, had to pitch a sachet of CML real ale yeast in as the kit yeast didnt seem to be doing much after 24 hour's. Fermented in primary 15 day's, last 5 added the hop pellets in a bag, secondary 4 days, sampled after 2 week's had a slight antiseptic taste, left for another week, taste's great. Might do a little partial mash with a couple of these, they seem to have plenty at all the local B&Ms. I didnt tempreture control the primary fermentation on this (the b&m ipa was in the beer fridge) just did it on the kitchen table temp between 65-72 degree's. Maybe that's the explanation for the initial antiseptic, home brew taste. What i have noticed with the IPA, and the real ale kit's is that they both have really good head retension. The lace on the glass is all the way down, and the head's still present with only a few drops left in the glass.

So I've got my final batch of the IPA that is now on day 8, so according to instructions should have had the hops added yesterday, left for 3 days, then bottled. However, i'm going away on Sunday, coming back next Friday - should I maybe leave it until next Friday, then add the hops (and also I'm going to chuck in a bag of frozen mixed forest fruits from tesco) when I get back next weekend?

Just picked up 2 real ale kits and a tequila n lime kit from Retford b&m @5.99. (They still had 4 or 5 left too. Unfortunately no IPA left but will give the real ale a go.
I've done the IPA and t&l before and was impressed by both.

I'm just starting drinking my second real ale. This batch has been done totally straight at it came (I souped up my first batch with a jar of H&B malt extract & some hops I had left over). Whilst it may be a little plain, it's perfectly drinkable. Not bad at £12 for 39 bottles... My local B&M still had half a dozen left (but no IPA). I'd have bought a couple but was already loaded with other shopping.

Tasted one of the B&M Ale kits today after carbonation (checking that the PB had pressure) and it has a great mouthfeel and taste.

I put his down to the swapping 500g of the Brewing Sugar provided with the kit with 350g 50/50 mix of H&B Malt ands Tate & Lyle Black Treacle.

I'm doing this kit tomorrow and like the sound of this, how many litres did you brew to? And how much treacle pls?

Brewed to 23 litres in the FV.

I used two of the B&M malt extract sachets with only one of the 500g Brewing Sugars that came with the two kits.

I had some H&B Malt left in its own jar which I "guestimated" was at just under half full. I then stuck the jar on the scales, added 150g of the Black Treacle and "guestimated" that there was about 350g total.

Dead scientific eh?

This was the result:
OG = 1.037
FG = 1.010
ABV = 3.54%

BTW, H&B have a sale on at the moment. Buy one and get the 2nd for a penny!

Enjoy!

Quick PS

The Black Treacle was the T&L BBQ Black Treacle.

I use ordinary T&L Black Treacle in a rub for smoking beef and pork BBQ ribs but I reckon that T&L dumbed down their ordinary treacle for the younger palate because it tasted a lot sweeter to me; which is why I had some spare!

Managed to get 2 more real ale kit's at weekend. Did a partial mash with them yesterday, and it's now bubbling away in the beer fridge. Added 2lbs maris otter, and a pound of crystal, 2 kit's, supplied dextrose, and a cml ale yeast, and a few first gold hop's sg of 1044 made to 25l. Let's see what comes out of the bucket in 15 day's.
