just looking on ebay for water heating elements and found these i think they are the same as the backer elements correct me if im wrong

I picked up one of these a month ago to install into my HLT build (then remembered I'm rubbish at electrics). Are you wiring yours to a PID first?

yes i am i have 3 pids coming i know what i want to do but just not sure how yet

i want to control the HLT element with the first pid which will have the HERMS coil and monitor the mash temp with another pid while i recirculate between mash tun and HLT, then switch over and control the boil kettle element with the third pid.
I know i will need to use Solid State Relays i am not sure if i will need power relays as well so still looking around to try i find some more info on this
