My parents have a pair of trek Powerfly hardtails, they are a lot of fun up hills. The 15mph limit isn't a huge issue as although they weigh a lot so going over it without assistance is difficult unless going down a steep hill it's enough to go faster than average on the flats.
I commute a few days a week by (normal) bike, 25miles each way. Arriving sweaty isn't a problem, I leave a bag of clothes, towels and flannels at my desk on on one of my driving days and have a wash in the disabled Loo's if others no shower in the office, feels fresher than spending an hour in the car!
I had one of the mouth breathers of the world get out of his BMW to call me every name under the sun for holding traffic up. Pointed out to him that he was now blocking the roundabout and the only thing I was holding him up from was the next traffic jam 100m up the road (and asked his better half if she was proud of him, she just looked sheepish so I suspect he got a bollocking in turn later on and no pudding).
I'm all for more e-bikes and bikes in general, its a simple solution to both the obesity epidemic and related health problems, and reduce the strain on our overcapacity road network.
