@geterbrewed

I won one a few weeks ago but due to family stuff I'm only getting to brew it today.

I'm having an issue finding the instructions. My delivery slip etc says that the instructions are on the website but I'm struggling to find them. I'm knowledgable enough just to mash at 65-66C (it's on now), but what do I do with the hop additions when I start the boil? I see the item description says it comes with hop tea bags for 60,45, 30, 15, 10 and 0 mins and I have 6 teabags. I assume I just stick 1 bag in at each interval - 4 weigh 12g, one weighs 10g and the other 14g. None of the bags are labelled.

I dont know the answer to your Q but if you send GEB a facebook message they normally reply quickly( within the hour)

I've made it now. Come to the conclusion that it's a teabag every 15 mins plus one at flameout and that the 2 bags of slightly different measurements were in error as there were no markings.

Had a bit of a disaster though! My boiler set off the circuit breaker on my extension lead three times in the last 15mins of the boil so I think it's finished. Don't want to do another brew with it so no more brews til after my birthday now! It can now join its former owner in Brewers heaven (that's not supposed to sound disrespectful I believe the person that has it before me had a massive passion for Homebrew and wanted his boiler to go to someone who would appreciate it, and I have!).

I'm going to give no chill a go today as it's raining and it's too far to run the hose line from my chiller into the kitchen from the outside tap. When it reaches 80C I'll shove my last teabag in then 20 mins later transfer to FV, seal the lid and wait until it's at pitching temp.

I did the mandarina baveria kit a few weeks and couldn't also make head nor tale of the instructions on the website(there on the page with the kit click which one you have) I had 2 odd weight bags which I used as dry hopping.

I massively missed my target of 1.053 with a starting grav of 1.044

i still can't find it. Maybe only works with the full website not the mobile friendly one?

I also missed my target OG badly (1.041 - without having the instructions I'm not sure what it was supposed to be but its supposed to be 5.6% which 1.041 definitely won't give me!), although I was blaming the fact my boiler died during the boil (only lost 1L in the boil).

I order all my engredients from them, brilliant service and had great brews

And this is where I don't quite get AG kits. With normal kits and Extract kits, the results are repeatable, but with AG the gravity depends so much on your technique and resultant mash efficiency that I don't see how they can quote an OG.

e.g. I know my typical mash efficiency is 68% so I compensate with extra grain, I know brewers who get much higher than that. But these kits come with a fixed a mount of grain. So that's probably why your OG was lower, your mash wasn't as efficient as theirs when they designed the kit.

I don't think my boiler breaking down helped the process. It was also the first time I'd done a beer with such a large gain bill (my other 2 AG beers were intentionally 4.4% and 4.9% respectively - My efficiency was just over 70% for both.) so I may have not stirred enough or something.
