Nobody I know - and I mean NOBODY - has the slightest interest in this total waste of money.

Unless of course you live 'Dahhn Sarrf', where money appears to be no object :wha:

Recession? :nono: :nono: Not for 'Lord Coe' and Co .......WTF???

Of course it's now falling apart at the seams with the G4S utter fiasco  watch this company fall like dominoes following their shambolic incompetence ;)

I would have thought it a no-brainer for many countries to contemplate even trying to follow China's hosting of the last Olympics. ....... :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

We never know when we are out of our depth until it's just too late

Never mind, Boris Johnson is putting a positive spin on things :? :?

It'll not be on oldstout's telly ;)

Well the construction provided a great deal of employment to many in a highly depressed sector of the economy.

Tourism (both domestic visitors and foreigners) will not only give a boost to the hotels etc but also to all those companies which supply them so those that say it won't benefit their area are assuming that no local companies will have their order books increased.

It will be good publicity for the UK and I hope that rather than being a waste of money it provide a much needed boost which may in the long run compensate for the expenditure.

I think its being here is something to be proud of and the persistent nay saying is symptomatic of a nation who puts itself down at any opportunity.

I am not a sports fan but I'll be watching the games some of the time as we'll be on holiday. I hope that we'll achieve plenty of medals and that the games are remembered fpr good things.

Our area will be busy as usual, not with the foreign tourists, but southerners wanting to escape!!!!! Good job I'm booked on the Hot Break. :thumb:

I totaly agree, how many will come in as an excuse then disappear from the radar?

Regarding the games it's a shame to admit but I've no interest whatsoever.

Ain't we already as it's so far cost twice as much as it was first quoted for , and i bet all this g4s bullcrap will add to the total

Spending £13billion so that a bunch of drug cheats and narcissists can spend two weeks running around and throwing things is obscene in any case.

To do it at a time when the police and armed forces are being kicked to death, the NHS asset stripped, students forced in massive debts, and public libraries closed due to lack of funds.... well thats just beyond words.

I think closing down entire lanes of traffic for the Olympic elite is the best metaphor for the "let them eat cake" philosophy that the Olympics has become.

To be honest I'd almost forgotten that there was going to be any sports to the Olympics. I thought it was all just about politicians bashing each other for incompetence and money wasting, the public and the press bashing politicians for incompetence and money wasting.

It does seem that we are making a big farce out of what should be an awesome event and a boost to the country. Transport to and from the games sites and around London is going to vary between chaotic and nightmare (working right next to London Bridge is going to be a tad painful). We've got missiles on roofs, more CCTV cameras than I think I've ever seen as well as police, army and private security people all over the place.... Will someone explain how the RAF is going to protect a sporting event?? Not to mention the crazy amount of overspend thats happening, the rediculous logo (when are they going to reveal the ACTUAL logo?!) And don't even get me started on the corporate sponsership policing nonsense.
I wonder what our final figures in here will be:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_of_the_Olympic_Games

BUT , what really gets me about the Olympics, is those stupid mascots. Who the hell thought them up?? I know what will be a good idea to promote the Olympics, the pinnacle of human sporting & physical ability - two fat dumpy creatures with short stubby limbs and only one eye. Although I suppose they would still be better at athletics then the majority of this country nowadays....

Rant over.

Having said that, I am going to the olympics and hopefully it will be awesome, even if I do need to elbow people out of the way to get on the train.
