Im tempted to try the all grain. I see people saying that it is superior in quality to kits - why is that though? What makes the difference? :wha:

It is quite simply the difference between instant coffee and freshly ground and brewed coffee :thumb:

Where can I start, you have so many more possible end products from A.G. Brewing, you can brew beers unique to to you using your own formulated recipes.

But more importantly If you buy correctly the ingredients will be fresher, therefore the beer will be superior in every way to a kit brew.

Its just like comparing a Muckdonalds 1/4 burger, to a well seasoned 21 day old 2" thick chargrilled steak.

At first the chargrilled steak will cost more as you need the equipment to prepare it on, but after a bit its still superior but works out cheaper.

I know which one I would be eating 1st.

AG is king for me.

I can make this really simple, most of us AG brewers started on kits, we didn't go to all the extra expense for nothing ;) All Grain is class :D

Posts above say it all ;)
I started with a good quality kit, it was fine :D
I moved on to extract brewing, it was fine :D :D
I moved on to AG, that was it for me, have just upgraded for more efficient, consistent production :D :D :D
Don't think I will be going back, once you've won you don't want to come second. ;)
Like most things the more you put in the more you get back...........except for investments that is

I guessed that's who you were referring to, but for image purposes thought you would like a chance to clarify it
I wouldn't know the correct spelling but I did know Billie ;)

A cake mix from a box vs a cake baked from scratch.

For me, I like the control of knowing what water formulation I use for each beer (no idea what was used in the liquid extract). I like controlling the mash temp to affect the body of the beer. I can choose the malts and various combinations of each to reach the desired result. In the end, it's about the control I have over the process of making beer.

Can I make an excellent cake from a box? Certainly. And when time is in short supply, it makes sense to do it. But when it comes to brewing, I either make the time to bake from scratch or reschedule when I have more time.

And Billie Piper is wonderful :thumb:

just under a year ago I brewed my first kit - it was :( a little dissapointing, tried a premium kit and it was good :thumb:
one extract kit showed me it could be better, built myself an AG brewery (can be cheap or very exspensive)

 I made that  no,

if I have to by beer from a shop i get upset - brew what you like and it`s cheaper - but best of all do a few brews and then invent your own recipes to your own tastes - AG is where its at :thumb:
