I'm a beginner to home brewing, learning as I go along. I've been using a stick blender to aerate the wort before pitching. Seems to work really well and fermentation has been great with S-04 and S-05. Is there any downside to the stick blender? I've read that a drill with paint stirrer is a good idea but I'm not a DIY'er so don't have any non-kitchen kit to use.

Hi there craftybeer and welcome to the forum.

Those paint stirrers are a great bit of kit for stirring your brew. Some of them are covered in paint so try to get it off first. If you have a hot air gun, soften the paint with it and it will come off easier. Like 31bb3 said, always make sure it is steralised first.

Like most things in brewing there are several ways to do it, if your method works then why change it?

Assuming you don't mean it's been used previously to stir paint, why are you concerned about the paint on the stirrer?
