Hi all,

First brew (St Peters IPA) went really well and is currently in the shed outside chilling for a few weeks! Had a taste of it when syphoning and it was much much better than I could have ever hoped!

Anyway - starting my second ever brew now. I am doubling up on Abdij kits from Brewferm. Using 1.2kg total of Golden Syrup in fermentation (instructions suggest 1kg normal sugar) and then some demerara sugar at priming stage I think.

Question - is it worth transferring to a second vessel for 2 weeks to clarify it? The instructions do suggest this but I see a lot of people debating the benefits of it.

Would be interested to hear from any Abdij brewers on here :)

Cheers

Definitely. Take your time with it. I would brew 50:50 dme and golden syrup to give it some extra body and not dry it out too much. Wait for the 1st stage to completely fininsh. In the kits I have brewed that takes about 3-4 weeks then I rack for 2 weeks.
Good luck.

It's a Belgian beer and won't need any extra body. Make it as per the instructions or with golden syrup and it'll be great. They're good kits.

Oh, and to answer your original question, no.
