Hi,

I've visited a local TIG Welding service to discuss having two 100L stock pots TIG welded together.

The chap is keen to have a go and I should be taking a couple over to Him on Wednesday to get a price and to hopefully agree for Him to do the required work.

I'm hoping to have some photos of the finished product some time next week.

I estimate they should make a 170L or slightly larger pot.

Can't wait to see them completed.

Would It not workout cheaper to roll some 2-3mm S/S sheet, and have this welded to a ss circle of the same ?
The resulting Pot would certainly be prettier.

It is an option depending on the cost.

I did not get a lot of time to speak to Him yesterday as I was rushed for time.

Meh. You only need about 15kW. That's less than two electric showers.

I've emailed them this morning.

Hopefully they will get back in touch and then I can set the ball rolling.

Nordic have always been the weakest link in My supply chain so it will be nice to have an alternative supplier.

What I want to know is why no British company is making something like this?

We were the giants in steel manufacturing once.

I live near to what used to be Shelton Bar.

I can still see the red glow over Etruria if I close My eyes.

Stoke didn't just mine coal and make bogs not so long ago.

Nice find ctb. I know of several shops in the U.K who sell this gear. The manufacturer also sells conicals in various sizes.
Do tell! :)

Going back to My original post.

I've paid a deposit on the 170L stainless brewpot I'm having made up.

I've taken UP's suggestion up of having it made from scratch!

No longer have I got to $iss about with suppliers Who can not be bothered to return emails.

I'll still use Nordic for the standard 100L pots as they are pretty reliable so far.

I've tried two companies in the UK and one in the USA and have been let down on each occasion.

Now I have a chap who works locally and hopefully can be relied upon.

I'll be able to see the pot when it has been tacked up prior to it being fully welded some time later next week.

Can't wait...
