Irish stout (with a cheeky extra)
Mashing in:
New recirculation setup:
Brewdog keeping an eye on temps:
70% pale 20% flaked barley 10% roast barley 50g northern brewer - simple recipe really. Was shooting for 1.043 but ended up at 1.038 and two litres over volume. Turned the boil power down to 50% instead of 65%ish so might explain it. Added 200g of black treacle to give it a cheeky boost. Chilling time was 15mins to 24degrees, with the pump recirculating. Tried out my new basic ph meter, a little high at 5.6 so dropped a little extra lactic in.
Built a new tap setup during the boil - will paint the backboard with blackboard paint to write the beers on.
End product fermenting away happily
Taster of the fuggles / challenger / Styrian Goldings pale - a little early but it's pretty good for barely two weeks after brewday.
