I've done a couple of small 1 gallon batches now, and as my kits are all Northern Brewer stuff the only fermenting vessels I've got are 2 ridiculous 4L demijohns, which are already starting to annoy me.

I don't have the space (or the kit, or really the inclination right now) to move up to huge brews, but I'd like to start doing 10-11L litre brews at least, so I'm looking for a new fermenter, preferably plastic, with a tap, a wide opening for cleaning and dry hopping.

Preferably not a bucket because the shelf space I can get away with using for my fermenter is quite tall and narrow :P

I've only really found one option after a few days of searching and that's out of stock 10 Litre Fermenter - Beer - Wine - Cider, perfect for 10 litre batches | The Malt Miller

Do people generally not do batches bigger than 1 gallon and smaller than 5? Are my requirements weird? Am I just looking in the wrong places? What else is out there?

Cheers in advance

There are 12L speidel fermenters. @MyQul does 10L brews I think too, not sure what he uses.
I use a 10L food grade bucket with an airlock stuck in the top.

Thanks for the responses folks

You got there ahead of me.

I use 10L Youngs buckets that dont have a tap

I'll check out the buckets, I found those initially, but had dismissed them because I'm not sure if they'll fit in the space I have available. I'll check though - Are you using a siphon to get the finished beer out of the bucket - I think I'm allergic to siphons (or I'm just terrible at using them, but that can't be true :P:P)

Brew2Bottle have a great selection.

Cheers, Nick

I looked there, most promising thing I found was this 11ltr Mini FerMonster Carboy but sadly no tap :(

Oh, nice :) hadn't found that yet, thanks for the link - that's quite pricey though, I think I'll probably end up just going down the bucket route...

Yes I use a syphon but I think you can get them with a tap too. I dont use FV's with taps as Im terrified that one day the tap will fail and I get beer/wort all over the flat floor. Upon which point MrsMQ will kill me

I have 2 10L plastic fermenters I've drilled the lids for airlocks. However I find I don't get a great yield between 14-16 500ml bottles. I use these for experimental brews but I could do with a better yield I.e. 20 bottles. Should I dilute the beer or buy a 15L fermenter?
