    Newly bottled beer query....

Bottled up a batch of Coopers Real Ale on Monday... Had a wee taste before hand and was well impressed. My first HB beer and it tasted absolutely great. However, I proceeded to bottle it with one teaspoon (measuring spoon) into each bottle then put it away to condition for a few weeks (room temp...

Thanks for the fast reply. Just swigged the rest of the sample and I have to say it tastes bloody good but def a bit stronger than I'd expected. Bit cloudy but has't had time to clear yet but it'll get as much time as it needs. Plan is to syphon to another FV add stabliser and finings as per...

    Query...

Just about ready to bottle my first wine (in 20 years). Been no activity in the FV for the last 2 days. FG is at .996 but in my haste to get the first batch on I never took a OG readng. Still to add stabiliser and finings. However, the wine (Magnum Rose) tastes great and looks nice and clear but...

    Newbie advice needed.....

I have 3 25ltr FV's on the go right now. 2 with wine kits and 1 with beer (Coopers real Ale). One of the wine kits is bubbling away nicely but the other two FV's (1 wine and 1 beer) are not. I was advised here on another post that it's possible that they are working fine and that the lack of any...

    First Beer Kit.....

Got the home brew bug big time now and just started my first beer. It's a Coopers Real Ale. Followed instructions to the letter and now have left it in my cellar to do it's thing. Fingers crossed all goes well. My only concern is that it says ideal temp is between 21-27 degrees. My cellar is...

    Nowt happening yet...?

It's in a bucket. Can't really hear anything coz it's near my boiler and the other batches are bubbling away lively right beside it. Doesn't appear to be doing anything, slight foam on top but that was there from the start when I mixed it up. I've sat it inside a big tub with warm water to see...

    Nowt happening yet...?

The problem kit used luke warm water (was about 22 degrees when made up) But I think makes sense what you say, could well just need a bit of heat to get it going. Nowt to lose I'll try sit the FV in some warm water... Thanks Ian

    Nowt happening yet...?

Prob just need to be patient but...... On Tues this week I started a 23ltr cellar7 red wine kit. Followed the instructions to the letter and put it away in my cellar. The temp slightly less than recommended (18 degrees as opposed to 20-25 recommended). On Wed eve I started another 23 ltr kit...

    Temperature query..

Excellent, thanks for the replies. I've moved it to the other end of my cellar closer to where my boiler is, don't think it's much warmer but poss a little. Will leave it now to get on and do it's thing...... Got a demi john of Rose on now as well and about to make up another 23ltr kit after...

    Temperature query..

The instructions on my wine kit says I should ferment at around 20-25 degrees. I have mine in a cellar and temp at the moment is hovering between 18-20 degrees. Will that be ok? Understand it will prob take a bit longer but reluctant to move it if it's not absolutely necessary as it's an ideal...

    Hello....

Just joined after a short nose around, looks like a good forum. My name is Ian and I live in Northumberland (originally from Aberdeen, Scotland). Have made a few wine kits in the past (about 20 years ago) and decided to get back into it and give it another go. Bought a "Cellar 7" kit and got it...
