    My new brewery...

Looking at this thread, I like the idea of a new microbrewery/home-brewer using an existing brewery's equipment/set up. Is there potential in hiring a brewery in this manner but still selling it yourself? Any one know the requirements for this? Obviously you would still need a personal license...

    Donate a Recipe

Thanks bebop. Can't say I'm a fan of wheat beer so might have to be convinced to give it a try!

    Donate a Recipe

Long story but in short I was sadly having my large intestine removed. Not having one hasn't stopped the beer making/drinking though! Thanks MattyJ. Was hoping people might want to suggest there favourite recipe. As with any beer festival there will be a vote for the best beer so you might win...

    Donate a Recipe

As a relatively new extract brewer (Ive done 7 extracts, 4 different recipes) I am constantly on the search for new recipes that I think I can brew but I have a special request for recipes on this occasion. This year it was my 30th birthday but sadly I was in hospital recovering from a major...

    Beer recipes

Well I made this and it seems to have turned out quite nice actually. My only problem was that when I made it up the start gravity was around 1.050 instead of 1.057. Not sure what I will have done wrong, it was my first time using dried malt or steeping. Dont think I had too much water so maybe...

    Beer recipes

Cheers Alistair. I guess I just need to keep brewing, the more batches I do the more I know. Will have a go with your suggested amount of crystal malt.

    Beer recipes

Ive been trying to use the Beer Engine programme to try to make some of my own extract beer recipes. Are there any secrets to creating a good beer or is it more abpout trial and error? Ive come up with the following and wonder if I'm doing anything obviously wrong. 10L brew Amber Malt Extract...

    Finding simple Extract recipes

    Brewing in smaller quantities (Extract)

This is probably an obvious question but I am keen to get some advice. I seem to take ages to get through the 40 pints I make in a usual 23L brew (pregnant wife and lager drinking mates!!) so am keen to do a smaller batch. I do Extract Brewing but have only done a few so far so am pretty...

Extract brew - producing weak strength

Hi all, I have an extract brew on the go at the moment and have done this receipe a few times now and can never get my gravity down to an expected 1.010, and therefore is turning out only around 3.1-3.4ABV and I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong. I'm pretty confident with the receipe I'm...

    Priming and bottling

Thanks. I'll probably go with the higher amount of that range then especially if Im taking some out to bottle to make sure theres enough presure in the keg. I should have said it was an ale I am making. Have used 2 tins of Coopers LME - 1 amber and 1 light and golding hops. Seems good so far...

    Priming and bottling

Hi all, Im doing my first extract brew and wanted to have a quick check with an obvious couple of questions. Its ready to be put into a Keg (23L of it). What is a sensible about of brewing sugar to add? From what ive read before i was planning 60g. And from what I remember its disolved in half...

    First Extract Brew advice

Hi all. Thanks for the advice, thought people might appreciate an update (no? im giving you one anyway). So I finally did this brew - but did it without any dry malt (so just 2 tins of Coopers LME - 1 amber and 1 light). All went well, cant believe how long it took though. Just lots of time...

    First Extract Brew advice

What a great site this is - thanks to all the experienced brewers who keep answering the same (often obvious) questions that us newbies keep asking!! I do need to ask however: - any suggestions on how much brewing sugar I should add to beer when putting into keg (23L brew)
