    Left for too long??

Hi guys brewed two batches 8 weeks ago 1 of which I syphoned into another fv to try to reduce sediment (went ok) and another that has not been opened at all. I have not touched them as my 1st batch went down the drain as it tasted horrible and its because of this I lost all faith and interest it...

    Priming temps

Ok thanks for replies. Its just I used a teaspoons worth in each 500ml bottle and expected the bottle to be pretty hard like a bottle of coke would be pre opening due to carbonation pressure, but none of that going on they have been bottled 8 days now and will be going into the garage tomorrow...

    Priming temps

Hey all, Due to not being at my property much I only have the heating on when I get in at half 7 and turn it off at half 9 or so when the house is warm. Therefore temps for carbonation/priming is at around 17/18 rather than the 20/22 recommended. Will it still work? not as much? not at all?

Spray malt. Does everyone use it ?

The instructions rarely say add spray malt just 1kg of dextrose. For my first batch I used 50/50 of each well maybe a bit more sugar but hey wanted a bit stronger than the 4.8% advertised. Anyway its coming up to 3 wks in primary fv and it appears really cloudy and pretty excited (bubbly)...

To siphon or use tap when transfering

To secondary fv? Will this make a difference? Im thinking of siphoning to reduce chance of sediment. Also Id like to ask the same q in relation to bottling. Cheers guys

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Thsnks for the reply windy! Main reason was because Im expecting sediment at the bottom? and want to lessen the chance of getting it into the bottles when the time comes. Other than this I dont have a reason. Any thoughts?

My first brew - Coopers Lager

Hello tasting even better now? I was wondering how much sugar you used and size of bottles ? Hoping to do mine in 10 days or so.

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Hi guys. Right its day 9 and as I said never saw a single bubble so cant go of that re readiness. And Im not confident of the graviety reading being correct. I basically want to start another batch so want to siphon this lot into second fv and leave so if it isnt quite finished then it wont...

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

I have no doubts your right. Its all experience for next time which is a positive. Re spray malt I heard that about the cold water and will probably mix it with a bit of cold water before adding. Thanks again

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Thanks for your reply. Due to my lack of understanding I was wondering if I left it say 10-14 days in the primary fv. Then siphoned off into a secondary fv at say 15-17 degrees then bottle would that work? I dont want to rely on a graviety reading that I could get wrong. The intructions...

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Re temp I knew it would just prelong fermentation but am happier at being a little closer to recommended brewing requirements if I can. Cheers for the replies guys.

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Its not on the carpet but I did move it this morning to the lounge (with carpet) The kitchen was a little cold ie 16C lounge is nearer 18 and the optimum going off the packet is 20. So needed to do something. I did put a sheet down just in case ;)

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Im worried that all the scum on the sides and the lid harbours the yeast. As stated I I did nt mix but gave it a blo ody good stir first.

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Well after nearly 48 hrs I ve seen no sign of any bubbles. How much water do you put in the bubbler thing? Something is happening because the lid looks like its ready to ping off due to some sort of pressure change and there is froth all over the lid where it has risen at some point. Is all...

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

they are new scales that I ve borrowred but doubt they d be wrong the reading goes to more a lager style (going off markings I couldnt suss out exact graviety tbh). I ve put too much dex in I think

Mix the yeast in or just pour?

Thanks guys I decieded to leave it be. Its better brew czech pilsner. I think i ve commited a sin by not following instructions and used 550 g of sugar (dex) and 500g of muntuns spray malt (light) it says just use a kg of sugar. I was going more off what i ve seen on you tu be probably...
