    Too long in primary??

Seemed to be going well - had apples and damsons in primary for 3 days, added yeast with intention of moving to demi's a day later. Circumstances beyond my control meant I couldn't until 3 days later.... Seems to be fermenting VERY slowly.... Have a heat belt on trying to keep temp constant...

    Mashing by Infusion

Read the thread above and it seemed to be a success?? The (100 year old+) recipe in the 'Berry' book, for those who haven't seen it, calls for "10 gallons of ale and a large cock, the older the better; parboil the cock, flay him, and stamp him in a stone mortar until his bones are broken(you...

Pressure Barrels, CO2, bulbs & Sugar

So..... When I transfer to my barrel I add the required amount of sugar and that should create enough CO2 for a good fizz. When it starts to go flat I add a CO2 bulb via the injector to reinvigorate - Is that right? I DON'T add a bulb when the barrel is full or do I?? Thanks!!

TC seems to have fermented in just over a week

In same vein, mine too seems to have 'done' in a week - I used fresh (well, bottled 'natural') orange and apple juice - will the above apply to mine too? Thanks

    CO2 Injection Valve replacement

Sorry to post on this topic this again but I've spent a lot of time asking & looking into this but still no concrete answer & I WANT TO START BREWING!!! The hole in the top cap of my barrels (Boots & Youngs) look the same; the diameter LOOKS compatible with the valve kits for sale...

    CO2 Injection Valve replacement

Thanks!! Not clear why it was implied the older injector unit may be suspect.... Dunno, might plough on regardless....

    CO2 Injection Valve replacement

So, I picked up a couple of 'Boots' barrels at a boot fair but the have the original plastic CO2 injection system in the 4 inch caps. Been told I should replace with Brass units. Has any one done this successfully and what did you use please? Thanks!!!!
