    Bottling best cleaning practice

Hi I need to bottle tonight and wondered what the best practice to do this is? I have a load of de-labelled bottles that havent been cleaned. Im assuming I need to use washing up liquid, rinse and then sterilize, but not sure. cheers

    Half full Barrell

Hi All, I have put my 8.3% mild  into a plastic barrell to condition before bottling. Will the air in the other half of the barrell spoil it over the next couple of weeks?

    Beer in Fermenter

Hi My AG beer is in fermenter, down from 1073 to 1022 at the moment. Its nearly done fermenting I think as the head is gone. However, it tastes very sharp and leaves a long aftertaste. Should I put this down to the fact that its a strong beer and that its not conditioned yet or do you think...

    Fermentation - too cold

Hi I have had my beer in the garage for 48 hours (it started at 1070ish and should end up at 1015ish) and whilst it had a really big head and lots of activity for the first day, its now looking a lot flatter and is at 1044. The temp outside in the garage is 15c and this probably too cold so Ive...

    Question (im mid brew)

Thanks to all that helped earlier. In the end I got 18.5litres.1064 gravity, adjusted for 40C = 1071. I could top up with water, but have none treated, to reach target OG of 1058, but will leave it. According to calcs that should mean final gravity of 1015 = 7.5%.

ah re-read the thread, I guess boil, will be left with less than 20 litres and then see what the OG is. 5 hours in and im knackered ( i boiled the water first) need a beer later

Thanks for the advice chaps. I have finished sparging (fly sparge with perforated tin foil). However, the spargings got very watery so Ive stopped at 24litres. Now in the boiler. So not really sure what this means :wha:

    Losing liquid

Hello all, Ive just spent a few hours brewing a recipie from wheeler, to brew 23 litres. I started with 18litres of water and then added to bring to 23l at the boil. However, also kept topping up with hot water as it evaporated- including right at the end to make 23l. However, this still wasnt...
