    lager and bitter.

It depends on the yeast. Some strains are not very alcohol tolerant and may not attenuate fully Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    warm weather

With a three gallon batch I'd get I few (3-4) 1 liter plastic bottles and fill 3/4 with water and freeze them. Next get a small plastic tub, place fermenter in it, fill with cool water and each day add 2 of the frozen bottles during high activity. Wrap in a damp towel and keep it in a dark...

Dry hopping to a conical fermenter question

I recommend dumping the yeast, I am assuming you'll take the lid off with leaf hops of that amount. In the future I'd try pellet hops that you can drop in through the 1.5 inch port on the lid. If you have the chilling coil or a chamber I'd also cold crash to get the hops to settle out. If you...

    Mouldy bottles

Agree with above but if the mold has been there for a bit you'll need a bottle brush. Remember that cleaning is not sanitizing. Still need to perform that step Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Grainfather - steeping hops

If your trying to steep below the temp where hop oils and alpha acids cook off then it would be hard on GF. The counter flow chiller is designed to cool wort in one pass so there in no opportunity to steep. BTW everything that I've read indicates that steeping like that is best below 82C...

    Krausen hasn't dropped

Quick answer is no not always but 99% of the time yes it does. You could just have a yeast that doesn't want to floc-out. Best thing to do is take a gravity. If it's where you want it then rack is out of there and continue as normal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have read that maximum particle density occurs at 38F or 3C. I usually crash at 2C. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Corny keg help

You can get the used corny kegs you just have to pressure test them to make sure that the hold if they do not hold pressure then you'll need to replace the O-rings in the gasket on the lid too easy. I would look closely at that nitrogen cylinder because Beer gas used for serving nitro beers is...

    Noob question: My first brew

That scum line looks like where the Krauzen was and has fallen. Best thing to do is take a sample and get a hydrometer reading. But high temperatures really speed up yeast activity. Unfortunately, it can increase the amount of esters and higher alcohols produced. If you pitched an entire...

    Going back to kits!!

I do kits when they run a special sale. For example, on Columbus Day Northern Brewer has 4 kits that they sell for $14.92. The catch is you have to get 3 kits. But that's only $45 for 15 gals of beer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Depending on your rig you might also want to take apart any valves you have at least quarterly and clean them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
