Brewing a Hefeweizen with my Speidel Braumeister

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but it seemed the best place to put this comment. Brewed this again with the same grains and mash schedule and very similar numbers but this time I used WLP380 for the yeast. I was very pleased with the final beer, WLP380 has the flavour profile that I prefer...

Raise a glass to my best mate - RIP

Sorry to hear of your loss, 29 is no age at all, I lost my brother when he was only 18 so I have a sense of what you're going through. I've officially just finished work so I'm now raising a glass to Steve, may he rest in peace. :drink:

    Admiral hops.

I tried Admiral as a SMASH IPA which turned out quite nice. The bitterness is lovely, I found it does an reasonable job as flavor hop but needs the assistance of another flavor/aroma hop in my opinion. Brewing a Hefeweizen with my Speidel Braumeister

I got the pickup/dip tube and the seal from here. The hop filter was made from a flat sheet of mesh that I got from here. I cut off a section of the sheet, formed it round a 15mm copper pipe to make a straight tube, removed the copper pipe replacing it with some PVC tubing so that I could bend...

Brewing a Hefeweizen with my Speidel Braumeister

Finally 'tapped' this one at the weekend, I'd aimed for an OG of 1.048 ended up with 1.043 :( WLP300 had a right appetite !!! I ended up with a FG of 1.007 :o When I was transferring this to the keg I got a wonderful banana aroma from it which seems to have faded a bit in the glass, but...
