    Thanks for the answers, I have no way to control the temp of the boil, I will work out how much I loose to dead space. In my old plastic boiler I would only loss 5-6 liters, I will try again this weekend as Goog Ed said I may just have to get used to the new system. cheers

    Hi I've been using the big book of brewing by Davied Line in which he says mash times should be at least 3 hours. Do I really need to mash for this long? I see that most recipes on this forum are for 60 - 90 mins? Thanks

    OK After a few trys at making AG beer using my wifes jam pan to mash and my dads old brewheat to boil the wort I have decided I need a better set up.     I'd love to brew more but at the moment space is an issue, Spliting the wort and using different hops sounds like a great idea.
