    Brewtools heating element

I think there's probably cheaper and more powerful heating elements that'd be more suitable than the Brewtools heating element which is really only designed for fermentation control.

    St Peters Golden Ale Problems

Sounds like you've got it sorted now, I made this as a sacrificial brew to test out my canning machine and can filler. Actually turned out quite tasty. I don't do many kits but when I do, the yeast that it comes with goes in the bin straight away. You don't know what the yeast is and as such you...

    Sparging with Brewtools B40Pro B80Pro B150Pro

Just to point out that my first batch I used the mash hat for sparging, as brewtools intended and it was all totally fine and my beer came out great albeit OG was missed but just felt like sparging could be improved as I found that using mash hat when sparging ended up channeling water through...

    Sparging with Brewtools B40Pro B80Pro B150Pro

Sparging with the brewtools has been a bit of a hit and miss affair. I think it's probably the only real weak point in the system. If you use Facebook there's a really good group for brewtools users and a number of people have shared different DIY solutions to sparging. I built a sparge manifold...

    Vyair RO Filter sale

Bah. Up to 50 quid and they're not in stock. You lot must have bought them all.

    British app for home brewing

Seems to be. As much as I've used it in the past, and it was good for what it did, I always found it pretty clunky to use. The UI was a bit outdated and could be tricky to find certain things. I started using Brewfather earlier this year and I find it far more modern and usable. Feel like...

Considering an all-in-one system, unable to decide between Brewtools B40Pro and B80Pro

As @paul3944 siad, I wouldn't let that worry you. I don't think any single vessel system has much in the way of sparging. The grainfather just uses an external HLT with a silicone hose going into it. Can't speak for things like the Brewmonk or any of those clones but from what I can tell they...

Considering an all-in-one system, unable to decide between Brewtools B40Pro and B80Pro

Probably plenty. I'm not sure what a full batch size of a B40 is if you made a, say, 4.5% pale ale is but I suspect you could keg/bottle maybe 30L from it at a guess. Standard batch size is about 23L. If you're the only one that drinks beer at home then honestly, to me anyway, 23L is loads. If...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

This last night. Part of my monthly Northern Monk subscription. One of many absolute belters. Edit. Terrible photo - can't really see it. It's Northern Monk Heaven 2020 Bourbon BA Imperial Stout 11%

T.V comedies you never got into.

Another one for Mrs Brown's Boys Also - The Mighty Boosh. Didn't get it at all.

Considering an all-in-one system, unable to decide between Brewtools B40Pro and B80Pro

The filter I’ve not had too much trouble with, although I did stump up for the new laser cut filter (fancied a bit of bling on my system!) - and I‘ll use the mesh filter for something else I’m sure. One thing I have had trouble with is when you pull up the grain basket is the sparge hat/pipe...

Brewferm Chill’in 50 stainless steel immersion chiller (new)

Bought this a little while ago but never needed to use it as I subsequently bought a Brewtools B40 and the counterflow chiller. They’re £85 (plus postage) from the malt miller, happy to let this go for £70 (plus postage) so you’re saving a little bit to put towards some beers!

Considering an all-in-one system, unable to decide between Brewtools B40Pro and B80Pro

I had my first brew with my B40 this weekend gone and sparging was definitely the area that let the system down. Everything else was brilliant. Took a little time to get the flow rate and temperature right for mashing but once I had, it was absolutely stable throughout the mash. I’ve bought a...

Oxygen free dry hopping in conical fermenter?

Wondered if anyone had anything in place? I‘ve got a 7 gal Chronical and looking to get some kind of oxygen free dry hopping system going. The Malt Miller has this on their site: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/1-5-tri-clamp-yeast-brink-with-exhaust-port/ However at 200 quid, I‘m sure...

    Lemon drop saison

Nelson sauvin went into the boil. Trying a slightly modern saison, thinking of putting some passionfruit into it.

    Lemon drop saison

My saison is sitting at 29c. Pitched (also Belle Saison) higher than I'd have liked to (27c), it'd have been preferable to pitch at low 20s but never mind. It'll still be beer and last taste was pretty good. Your recipe sounds tasty, haven't used those hops before. Would be keen to find out how...

    Acetaldehyde in beer before bottling

Seems to me like that would end up being a rather sweet saison at 1.010. Aren't most saisons much closer to 1.000? I've got a saison brewing (using Belle Saison yeast) that I'm hoping to get down to around 1.005 at most but hopefully lower.

Best way to connect 3/8th gas line to regulator

Hmm weird. You might be able to remove the fitting to swap it for another smaller barbed fitting. Should be 1/4" BSP fitting unless they made it weird, awkward and non-standard.

Best way to connect 3/8th gas line to regulator

Right, the fog is clearing. I had a micromatic regulator with a barbed fitting that the gas line went straight onto and then a 6 way manifold and each of those outs had barbed fittings that gas line attached to and went off to each keg. What regulator do you have? That barb fitting is the...

Best way to connect 3/8th gas line to regulator

Could be. I don't have my regulator to hand to compare as I'm not currently kegging but I'm pretty sure I had a similar set up. Otherwise you might find a more suitable barbed fitting easier to find and once it's on, you can forget about it.
