    Coopers, English Bitter

I still have this kit from by birthday so plan to brew it once I have a FV spare. I also have a kilo of medium spray malt, some safale yeast and a corny which needs filling! Should turn out a decent beer to dish out at the BBQ's for the standard bitter drinker, as ill be pressuring with a...

    storing brews

I'll have the same issue with my steel garage, it's gets warm in summer so will have to get a cool place in the house or pick up a cheap fridge from somewhere!

    gas problem

That's not entirely true, in the "real ale" world, beers such as John Smiths are ridiculed. However, some people like the consistancy of these smooth flow beers, if they do then they can dispense any ale from a corny using a nitrogen mix and it'll provide the same smooth flow in pubs. I know...

    gas problem

Nitrogen mix isn't just exclusive to stout and guiness.

    gas problem

A nitrogen mix can be used with any "smooth flow" bitter and stout. Many people experiment with mixed gas to get differing results.

    greetings!

It's a mixture of Dextrose (brewing sugar) and DME (dried malt extract). I'd go with that as its your first brew, it'll come out good! I sympathise with your early wake up call, my 12 week old is refusing to go back to sleep right now!

    gas problem

That's a large nitrogen mix! If the bottle does have this mix in, do you have the correct regulator? Nitrogen is pressurised at a higher rate to create a creamy head like that you find on Guiness. Is this the effect you wanted?

First Corny kegging - co2 or a mix

Nitrogen mix can also be used on bitters to gain the consistency of bitters in pubs such as John Smiths. I know we all turn our noses up at this, but my left over kit of Wherry will be force carbed in the corny with Nitrogen mix for the bitter drinkers at BBQ's during the summer. Will see how...

Foresters Arms Amber Citrus Burst on the go

Nice one! I wish I could leave my beers for 6 months, I just don't have the will power! Sounds like a successful brew day though. Watch out for the dark side dragging you in, especially as you are boiling your own hops!

    sweet newkie brown...

That's a lot of fermentable material to dump in the brew. I'm on my last 4 bottles of it and used 1kg of BKE, I brewed short to 20 litres and came out with 4.5% ABV. If it was stronger I think it would ruin the taste. The beer itself doesn't carry a lot of body. Good luck with the brew! :thumb:

New to forum, but not to beer...

I know you bypassed the Wherry, but make sure you do it, it's a superb ale. Welcome to the forum.

AG#1 Blonde Ale from THBC (pic heavy)

Just had a sample, it's brilliant. The hop profile is coming through and it's light, it's beautiful! At only a week old I really can't wait to bottle this and see how we'll it goes down.

The Homebrew Company - site sponsor

I ordered my boiler and my first AG kit, can't fault the service at all. I even emailed after to get the recipe and some advise on dry hopping, the response was speedy and friendly! In this day and age, companies lose focus with customer service, just glad this hasn't impacted the brewing...
