    Stepping UP

Now it's sat at 1006, so may be bottling time mid next week. And tasting very much like a Saison should! I'll make sure I have a bottle with a decent yeast sediment in it to keep for a further brew - for Xmas perhaps! More when the taste test is done - about 5 to 6 weeks time Cheers :beer1:

    Stepping UP

As I mentioned in another thread; 'Just added the yeast I started from a bottle of Saison (Saison d'Erpe-Mere ) from brewery De Glazen Toren in Erpe-Mere, Belgium, I had to step it up 3 times to get what I think is enough yeast for the 22 lit. ' 2kg. Lager malt 2kg. Wheat malt 500grm. Munich...

    Billy Basic Saison?

Just added the yeast I started from a bottle of Saison (Saison d'Erpe-Mere ) from brewery De Glazen Toren in Erpe-Mere, Belgium, I had to step it up 3 times to get what I think is enough yeast for the 22 lit. I brewed this morning. Decanted the 'beer' from the starter and tasted it - very dry...

    Bottles for Carbonating Tripel

I made a 3 grain trippel for New year last October - didn't taste much like a trippel in the end but tasted very good anyway. used 2 carb drops per 500cc swing top bottle to carb up and that was fine after some 6 weeks in bottle. I've got 2 bottles left - I'll chill 1 and try it tonight Cheers...

Are you proud to be English.

I'm proud to call myself British, as my maternal line are all Scottish - as my Aunts from Fife would say 'you are a half and half'er ' :laugh8: However............. I love good Bitter beer and adore Cricket -what is more English than that! Also very fond of a 'wee dram' Best of all worlds IMHO...

    A saison recipe please.

Good thread, I'm stepping up a yeast from a 750mm bottle of Saison d'Erpe-Mere at the moment, may need another step up before ready for use. So I'm working on a recipe for a Saison also :thumb:

    B&M kits

Worth a look at their website, 12 brown 500cc swingtop bottles for under£10 seems ok. And the beer kits look like a rebranded Mangrove Jack box. Pity they don't sell grain :cheers7:

Possibly dumb question from a noob...

If you use a brew bag you can lift it out of the boiler and raise the temp. then pop the bag back in. You may have to rig up a simple 'A' frame lift using a small stepladder (as James Morton's book) to do this. Cheers

Peco 33L Masher / Boiler - OR - 50L Stainless Steel Pot With Tap & Element

As an owner of a Peco digital boiler, I can testify that they work quite well. As they only have 1 - 2.5Kw element they do struggle to get a frantic rolling boil, but will boil 28lit of wort well if you lag the bucket. I use 2 layers of el-cheapo yoga mat on mine, strapped well down with duct...

    What did you brew today?

Further to my previous post #1243 Mild all now in the fermenter, 22lit at 13brx. (converts to 1.0526) gives me a 78% efficiency. I think this is due to the fact that I mashed for 90min and for the first time did a mash out/dunk sparge for 20 min at 75c, a refractometer was used to do the pre &...

    Sit Vac: Home Secretary

Better the Devil we know, she won't go as she's just what the Tory party need - now she's the scapegoat for Windrush and Brexit now! But we could have Boris of course - Oh Sh&t!!! Cheers

    Alder Hey staff abused.

Agreed! It will also be intimidating to patients and relatives of patients visiting the hospital. Moron is a polite description of the protesters.

Nowt new there then. But there are many very experienced brewers on the forum. However the kit may have changed, beer is still water, malt, hops, yeast, time and enthusiasm - welcome to the forum, and back to brewing!
