    MM Shopping list ideas

sorry, just noticed you need the black for your mild. You'll just have to make it 4 times!

Also... ditch the black malt and swap it for a kilo of caramalt/carapils/pale or dark crystal/special B/ caragold etc..... they're all far more useful than black. I still have the best part of a kilo from 2 years ago!

Definitely more hops, the yeast you can re use but you'll need more hops to turn all that malt into beer.

How have your taste buds changed?

Just seen Pittsy's response. Is it the forum's general view that all lager is p*ss? Have the Germans and Czechs been wasting all their time all these years brewing p*ss.... or is it just our version of mass produced yellow fizzy water that can be described as such?

How have your taste buds changed?

Not quite as far as yours it seems as I can still stomach the odd pint of lager, though it's the exception rather than the rule nowadays. I'm more likely to walk into a pub and pick a real ale that looks interesting than pick a lager, even tough with the lager you'll know what you're getting...

    Kolsch Recipe?

I kegged one today and had a quick taster and it seems my most promising to date. No Vienna, Munich or wheat this time just 100% Dingemans Pilsner Malt, Saaz at 60 and 5 Minutes and fermented with WLP029 at 17°C. Obviously it needs a bit of lagering but it's the closest I've come to a...

Show us your Kegerator/Home Bar/Dispensing Solution!

This is mine, the taps are Perlicks bought from the States, the gas management board allows 3 different pressures. They're dangerous things to have as there's no pile of empties to show your consumption!

    hop rhizomes

The only American hops I've seen for sale over here are Cascade (I have one) and Willamette. I think the new exciting ones are kept under a tight reign by their breeders! My Cascade does pretty well over here though.

    Solar pump power supply help

I've been using one of these for a while now, they work pretty well, you do need to short out the foot pedal switch with a 1/4" phono plug though...

    FG seems incredibly low...

Are you sure your thermometer is accurate? If the mash temp was too low then you can end up with a more fermentable wort and hence a lower FG.

    23L Chinese 'Cornys'

I believe Orlando has one and hasn't had any problems.

Step mashing schedules - how do you do it?

I don't, but then the only beers I've brewed so far which may warrant it have been Weisse and Kolsch and they've turned out fine without. I'm sure I'll probably end up giving it a go at some point though...I seem to have an aversion to keeping things simple!

Any light masters on the forum

Based on experience go for the 50/60w equivalent 60 SMD led bulbs, they're almost as bright as a 50w halogen with a decent spread of light, those with 3/4 leds are too focused. I fitted 4 a good 6 months ago and they're still going strong with no failures... I'd maybe like them to be a tad...

Ovetcarbonated Turbo Cider, best way to fix?

Turn off the gas and keep venting the keg until the pressure comes down to what you want.

    citra cascade attempt

My only issue is with the yeasts, the S05 will be fine, I've not tried the Mauribrew and S04 makes a nice stout, I really don't like it in a pale ale though!
