    Recomendtion on a 10l fermenter

I expect the tap will take the standard bottling stick. Might give this a try.

    Tea bag squeezing

I don't use a tea pot (too much washing up....) but I have a large s/s tea filter which fits in most cup/mugs we use. So the tea can infuse freely in the water.

    Tea bag squeezing

I prefer to leave the tea bag in the cup until I finish it. Somehow I feel that tea isn't as strong as it used to be (or there's less tea in the bag these days). Yonks ago if you left the bag in the cup for more than five minutes the tea was undrinkable. I also like loose tea, especially Lapsang...

Have a go at simple AG

Yes, came out at 1.009, with OG 1.040 makes it about 4%. Only took one reading couple of days ago and I had to move the DJ to a colder spot until today for space reasons.

Have a go at simple AG

Quick update on the saison - just bottled this batch after a week .... first couple of days it was bubbling away like a world champion, from day 3 it was more or less dead, a bubble a minute. The ABV ended at c.4%. Did see reports that saison yeast can work very quick, especially at higher...

£35+PP for a sachet of yeast?

This was really a bit of aimless browsing ... I certainly wouldn't consider it!

£35+PP for a sachet of yeast?

I was browsing through Google and hitting the shopping option for Fermentis yeast, amongst many normal priced offers there's one for c.£35 + shipping for an 11g sachet! Not a brewing related site though. Is this Google AI setting the price...

Have a go at simple AG

Decided to do a small batch based on the original recipe which started this thread. More really to try out my new shiny 15l pot (nothing special) and do a brew on an induction hot plate we got a while ago. Just used what I had available, continuing in the saison spirit. Here it goes, for a...

    Please help me ...

That's the "SG" Starting Gravity, i.e. pre-fermentation the wort with all the sugar still present. That might be around 1.040. "FG" Final Gravity maybe 1.008, after all or most of the sugars have been fermented. Think of it like this - SG = high in the wort - FG = low in wort

    What did you do today?

Final touch to a new potting shed: installed guttering and piping to water butt, it was cold and damp, brrrr. But no serious rain, none for weeks ... And opened a parcel containing a small stainless steel 15L stockpot for my smaller stove top brews. wink...

    Building a healthy homebrew stash.

Definitely - myself I like cycling, though over the past 3 months done very little, due to weather mainly. I decided a while ago to restrict myself to a bottle of beer each on Friday/Saturday, with the usual unhealthy "treats". Very occasionally a spirit measure. In the week it's generally...

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

A good old kit favorite, Geordie Winter Warmer, brewed straight with nothing special added, just granulated sugar, to 20 litres, always nice I find.

Fawlty Towers: John Cleese to revive series with daughter Camilla

Perhaps Cleese is hoping to put across his political views via a comedy type show. He has complained about this that and the other over the years. I believe he's a presenter on "GBNews", in good company no doubt.

    LME storage

I have just bottled a half kit Wilko's First Gold IPA, just put half the can in a tupper ware box and put it in the fridge for the next brew. No issue at all. In the past I have even frozen part kits again no issue with the next brew.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Sunday evening: Noticed this in Sainsburys and couldn't resist, having lived in the area for a number of years, though in those days IPA was probably unknown to most (early 80s). Nice aroma on opening the can, just drank it from the can, nice hoppy with citrus, refreshing.

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

To accompany my Friday sausage & chips, this 750ml fliptop bottle of Belgian Triple, on offer @ £2.99 in Aldi. Quite light and refreshing considering it's 6%. I'll see if I can pick up another bottle or two wink....

Nice reminder of a few business trips I made to Vienna, a few years ago. Original Hirter beer mat.
