How often do you replace your FV's?

I clean my FV's with diluted bleach and a nylon brush, no scourers it's the area where the Krausen sits, kinda like a rough matt finish to the plastic as apposed to a "Deep" scoring.

How often do you replace your FV's?

Hi all, After listening to a brew network episode about fermenters, they said they change their FV buckets every 5 brews, now I'm still using my originals from last year roughly FV #1=10 brews & FV#2= 5 brews. I'm fastidious with my cleaning regime but now I've looked FV#1 is looking a little...

    Pressure barrel question.

Also you want it a bit warmer so the Co2 pressurises your barrel , personally I would go for the cellar if the temp isn't too high, what temp is your cellar? You could then transfer to a cooler place for serving at Chrimbo :thumb:

    AG#1 - Galaxy Blonde (1st BIAB) - Photos Added

Just leave it on the surface , put your autosyphon or what ever you use into the brew and get it transferred. The less you interfere with a fermented beer the less chance of introducing unwanted bacteria.

    busy afternoon

All kits can be dry hopped,as it is done after primary fermentation. It's a good idea to use 20g of your hop in a pre sterilised muslin bag, you can buy these from most suppliers, I sterilise it by boiling in some water with a couple of stainless steel nuts to weight the hops down. If you don't...

Fermenting in a cold kitchen this winter...

+1 to water bath with aquarium heater, Buy a plastic trug from a hardware store and use an aquarium heater 100w and buy a thermometer with a probe About £5ish. Make a very weak bleach water solution and use this in your trug to prevent bug growth. Put your FV in the trug surrounded by the...

    New to brewing...

Try removing the flexible white washer/ ring from your pressure cap and soaking it in just boiled water, it's should reshape and remove any indents from previous use, refit with just a thin smear of Vaseline. It should seal nicely then :thumb:

Nobby'snuts Strong American Amber Ale (Amerillo cascade )AG7

+1 to rice hulls comment, no need if not using wheat as I understand. I bought oat husks before my 1st wheat beer last year, finally chucked them away out of date this week as they were still unopened! ;)
