    AG Brewing to a recipe

Hi all, all the best for the new brewing year. I was just wondering how all you AG brewers choose a recipe, do you find a commercial beer or real ale you like the taste of then see if there’s a recipe to replicate it or do you try a recipe you like the look of or do you make up your own recipes...

Odd side effects of certain beers. (besides the obvious)

In the 80’s me and mates used to drink Tuborg Gold, i think it was called, and you could guarantee it would give every one of us the strangest dreams. We’d ring each other up the next day to see what weird dreams we’d had.

    Barrel pressure test

When it’s pressurised Try screwing an empty cartridge onto the valve and leaving it overnight if the pressure has gone the next day at least you know it’s not from the pin valve.

    Charlie Papazian book

I’m just about to start my 2nd LME kit a MJ pilsner and I’m just reading the complete joy of home brewing for a few pointers and mr Papazian recommends boiling your ingredients (the can/packet of Malt extract supplied with the kit and any sugar/spray malt/enhancer you intend to add) in 5.5-6...

    Youngs American IPA Help

Thanks chilli, sounds like it might be the next step up for me. I’ll try a few kits first to get the process right so i know what to look for and what order to do things then I’ll ease into grain brews.

    Muntons beer kit

Hi crow, i know it comes with 10g of m54 californian lager yeast which I’ve just read allows a higher fermentation temp of 18-20° So more like an ale temp. Will keep you posted how it progresses.

    Youngs American IPA Help

Hi lamby, it smells really nice, the first taste last week after a week at 20°C was a little harsh and a little bitter, not overpowering but not very smooth. Today another week on it smells even better and the taste is a bit smoother not as bitter and pretty drinkable now. I’d be happy being...

MJ craft series pils kit advice

I plan on doing this kit next mangrove jacks craft pils, it comes with M54 californian lager yeast-10g, with saaz hops for dry hopping. So i have a couple of questions, it says i need either 1kg of pure malt enhancer or 1.2kg dextrose. If i was to use 1kg of dextrose and 500g of malt enhancer or...
