What have you been doing with your lock down time?

I've mostly been lying in my hammock in the sunshine. A bit of brewing, A bit of drinking, a bit of running and a bit of volunteer work. But mostly taking it easy. It's going to come hard when I have to go back to work.

black IPA malt recipe ideas please?

My understanding is that the dehusking of the carafa special malts provides less roastiness flavours than normal black malt.

Which beer next..... From the Bible?

An oldish thread this but I thought I'd add to it having brewed both the GH summer ale and spring beer. The summer Ale I wasn't that fussed about. I may give it another go but I would up the recommended mash temperature from 65 Deg to maybe 68 and probably up the late addition EKG. The Spring...

    May is Mild month

Mild is a beer that I've always liked the idea of (low alcohol, quick turnaround, refreshing) but I havent been over impressed with the low abv versions I've tried in the past. I have however done the stronger sh ruby mild several times and its a favourite of mine. Have spent a fair bit of time...

    May is Mild month

@jjsh that's very interesting what you say about adding sugars, I've always avoided the mild recipes with sugars in the past fearing it would dry out or thin the beer too much but maybe I should give it a go.

    May is Mild month

@An Ankoù I will have a look at your brewday post next. I have some carafa special 3 which I'm considering using but also have some chocolate and black malt, I'm hoping to avoid making it too toasty which was why I was considering the carafa special, did a search on using this in a mild...

    May is Mild month

Been looking at what ingredients I have left and decided that I could probably stretch them to two brews if I went for a fairly low abv mild. I'm also thinking that's a good drink to enjoy sat out in the sunshine whilst on lockdown, anyone else brewing a mild for May? Also what's your favourite...

Corny keg - carbing with sugar basic setup

I like this idea, I could also use my 5 litre mini keg to ferment some apple juice or similar, I managed to get a big co2 cylinder delivered yesterday but worth remembering if co2 stocks get low again

    Natural carbonation in cornelius Keg

My large Co2 bottle ran out last week, luckily I still have a sodastream bottle and some smaller (8g?) Canisters I can use to dispense for a while but am not going to force carbonate till I can get a replacement large bottle. Trying to make up my mind if next brew I revert back to bottling or...

    Snoring

I'm the snorer in our household at one point I was really bad but luckily I discovered I'm able to prevent it by exercising. I'm a keen(ish) runner and as long as I don't slacken off then I don't snore but periods where I have slacked off my weight goes up and snoring returns.

    Hi from MK

Welcome, there is a homebrew group in MK, meetings are arranged on Facebook. Good opportunity to try a few beers and there are usually some strong ones judging by the meetings I've been too. (Kind of like an endurance drinking session ):cheers2:

Generic oxi cleaner vs Chemipro wash and such

Just got back from Wilkos, my local branch didn't have any of the £2 oxiclean I normally buy only some £8 and £14 stuff. I hope its just temporarily out of stock.

    Tilt hydrometer

Roughly how much is an ispindel in the UK either pre assembled or as a diy build? I did have a look at the mentioned website but didn't want to plough through 180 odd pages. Ispindel or tilt is not something I really need but a nice to have gadget if it were cheap enough.

    Scaling of recipes for BIAB

My preferred supplier is the maltmiller. You can input recipes to exact weights and have them make it up for you so you dont get left over part bags of hops etc. for Biab you can select a fine crush option which helps with efficiency
