    1st timers 1st mistake

Bit confused by your hydro readings? Surely your not down to 1009 in 3 days? I hope Matt is right about the hops as I find 5 days in the FV about right, anything over 7 is just grassy, nasty and overpowering. I find simplest way to dry hop is to wait until fermentation has finished then your in...

    Pressure barrel question

Can't see why you would have ruined anything, the cap needs to be on tight for priming. So if I were you I'd just prime what you have left in the PB and put your cap back on and put bottles and barrel in the warm for 10 days or so.

    Drinkaware

Just to update, I/we went for a Brupaks West Country mild. I was a little late putting this on, I went for the extra water as it was the easy option, only needed an extra 4litres to get it down to 1032 It's been on a week now fermenting nicely at 19' A very nice kit with the grain and hops to...

    misplaced the instructions

6g per litre? Sounds about right, that would give you 138g for 23l in the barrel. Have you looked for instructions on the net

    1st timers 1st mistake

Good choice! Not the end of the world, probably come out a little stronger as there isn't that much sugar there. The hop addition would concern me more, I hope you haven't put these in at the start of fermentation.

    Shipping beer

Shipping shouldn't cause any probs, and if it's fully conditioned it should be past bottle bomb stage by now although it may resemble champagne when he opens it lol. Have you checked the regulations on posting alcohol btw

    Milestone Dasher The Flasher

I usually knock a couple of litres of most stuff and it turns out fine, maybe do a starter for your yeast if your adding more sugar?

    A question of bottling

That's my exact problem Cov. When I pour water on my orange squash and look through the glass it seems cloudy in some parts and dark in others! unless I stir it. Scale it up and half a pint of boiled water versus 36 pints of ale.....? Iam being devils advocate though  as I use both...

    A question of bottling

That's what I don't understand Antony, surely exactly half a teaspoon placed in each bottle will give more even carbonation than stirring it into 21 litres of liquid then pouring into individual bottles? Or am I missing the point because easier = better. Which I totally understand!!
  14. Racinsnake

can i put my coopers australian lager into grolsch bottles.

Any bottle could "blow up" if primary ferment isn't complete. Grolsch bottles should be fine.

    A question of bottling

The general opinion is batch prime for bottling, although Iv got to admit I can't get my head round why it's best. Iv done both, batch and half teaspoon in a bottle and both have been spot on. Personally I'd go 2 weeks in the warm, conditioning..... as long as you can resist lol.

Wow.. how often a bubble when it's ready

I use 5litre water bottles and just chuck the hydro in for the ride

    Pressure Barrell

Not patronising but have you got it turned off correctly? If it's a Youngs standard tap it wants to be at 90' to the barrel, not pushed all the way back towards the barrel.

    Swing top bottle offer

Postage is a deal breaker though. 7 squid!!
