Anyone else leak in the night?

And there was me thinking this thread was about being over 50 & getting old, these days most of us have dry dreams & wet farts.

    Were you a Mondeo man?

About 15 years ago a good friend died after a suffering from ms for years & some weeks after the funeral his widow phoned me up & asked "I have some swords & piles of books & videos, would you like them?". I rock up round there to find 5 swords on his bed & his lifetimes collection of hard core...

So. Who remembers Beer Festivals? Which/where was your last?

Last one we went to was the Kentish Beer festival at the Three Tuns Lower Halstow, held over August bank holiday, a group of 15 of us sailed over from Benfleet in half a dozen boats anchored at the top of Stangate creek & went up to lower halstow on the last of the morning tide. Just got there...

How to be happy in 2021 (despite everything)

The hurdy gurdy is undergoing quite a revival, it always tended to be a complicated expensive handmade instrument but a Dutch engineer designed & made a laser cut version called the Nerdy Gurdy, It can actually sound quite good & is a good entry level if you are into such things. There is also a...

How to be happy in 2021 (despite everything)

I m lucky in that i was just able to retire, though i was in a job i enjoyed most of the time the boss was a waste of space & i was glad to be able to leave. Probably the reason i have spent most of my life self employed was that i dont like being ordered around by idiots! It also helps to be &...

    Best ever witty response

I used to work at a boatyard in Old leigh, early 80's, one of the lads who worked there was a Maori from New zealand. One of the yard owners went on holiday & the other partner decided to sack him for being lazy (grain of truth probably). When the partner came back off holiday there was a bit of...

    Ouch!!

Puncture wounds are often liable to get infected, ten years ago i knelt on a copper nail in our old boat & the point went in far enough for infection to get in the sac around my kneecap, a big abscess resulted & antibiotics from the doctor didnt work. Went back a few days later & another doctor...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

My wife is an environmental health officer, fortunately most of her work is from home, It is clear that widespread ignororing the rules has been going on for some time so its no surprise to us. Also there was a report from the BMA publication the Lancet yesterday stating that one of the prime...

    Best opening song lyrics.

Someone beat me to Sweaty betty, But so many of the Macc lads songs are classics, " I spent last night trying to chuck me bird, she were clinging to me leg like a homesick turd, I said yer **** are too small yer legs are too short i want a fit bird from't sunday sport" Fluffy pup, Lead singer...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

My wild hops from the old farm (suspect they are goldings) went berserk this year I had masses of them there were weeks of sun then the rain came & the gales, they got mildew & that was that, lost the poxy lot. Ah well theres always next year.

Never bought a guitar but i have made quite a few, Cigar box & biscuit tin jobs, actually i lost count now, think i must have a disease. Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

The wild hops i transplanted winter before last did extraordinarily well last year in their first season. A friend who is an excellent brewer reckons they are most likely Goldings, three of us made beer with them last year & it was all good. This year they have leapt out of the ground like...

    Fermented hot sauce

I get my seeds from South Devon Chlli farm, good selection of exotics, I have largely settled on growing Jalapeno's, Ring of fire Cayenne, Pot black, & Aji Limon as they are all heavy croppers & very reliable. The super hots are a pain to grow & not reliable as too much flower drop.

    Fermented hot sauce

Re the Souped up kitchen recipe, Did a stir fry tonight for three & it rocked! Steam is still coming out of our ears and i only put one teaspoon of it in there.
