    Threaded 1/2" BSP Stainless Pipe/tube

Regular dies will probably work for one or two threads but for the real deal you're looking at £50 for the die

    Threaded 1/2" BSP Stainless Pipe/tube

If you do buy a die, you could make me a couple. I suspect many people who convert Bergland pots need something similar.

zero switching SSR workaround??? electronics teaser...

Disclaimer: This might not work. Connect the output of the PID to a 12v transformer and use this to drive a cheap DC/AC SSR Edit: This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NpcMycHDvk shows how to modify a PID to power a SSR directly. You'll still need an SSR that is DC driven.

40L Urn Died. Next Brewery Build

Some of the Bergland thermo-pots come with small taps. The 70 litre one does, the 60 litre one doesn't. Not sure about the others.

    larger kegs

There's a HUGE thread in 'the other place' that tells you all you could need to know about kegs. Seems the tool you need can be made from an old socket and that cleaning isn't that difficult. http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/view ... =6&t=58785 PS. the early part of the thread mentions free...

Position (no, not what you're thinking!)

You might want to get your hand underneath for cleaning but otherwise Fil is right.

Have you had to block the condensation drain hole to make that air lock work?

tube heater or immersion heater with STC1000

Ceramic heaters are also available. And slightly cheaper. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400471891579 Sometimes there's a fourth option too.

Designing My New Brewery - sizing & to HERMS or not to HERMS

1 barrel is 164 litres so if you really want a 1bbl set-up you going to need a mash tun of at least 100 litres. You'll probably struggle to find a cool box that big. You can always add a HERMS later if you plan for at the start. Sorry this doesn't really answer any of your questions

Was this a bargain or not?

I've been watching these 25l kegs on ebay for a while as they were auctioned twice. In the end, I decided not to bid because something didn't feel quite right. So bargain or the century or rip-off? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171148966211

    Fermenting question!

Actually it says "Thermostatically controlled to maintain a liquid temperature approximately 9 deg C above ambient room temperature, giving a fermenting temperature of 22-29 deg C in most domestic environments" So in a shed it would be about right (at this time of year)

    Fermenting question!

A simple, if not especially cheap, solution would be a heater tray like this:- http://www.home-brew-online.com/equipme ... -te25-p720 Wrap the fermenting vessel in a old sleeping bag or duvet and it'll be fine. It only uses 25 watts so is very cheap to run.

Help needed with shiny set up

Thanks for your very comprehensive reply. I see that special dies for threading stainless are available but they are eeeeek prices (>£50 for one). For a small brewery it's got to be cheaper to get someone else to thread some tube for me. I'm planning to use more than one pump because I want...

Help needed with shiny set up

I'm in the planning stages for brewery 2.0 and am hoping to make as much of it as possible out of stainless steel. I'm planning to make all vessels bottom draining with a purpose build table to take the pipework underneath. So my questions are:- How important is Mash Tun insulation with a...

There's a HUGE thread in 'the other place' that tells you all you could need to know about kegs. http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/view ... =6&t=58785 EDIT: the early part of the thread mentions free delivery but it's now £25 per order

Why don't commercial brewers bottle condition?

'Pulling' wort through a CFC with a self priming pump

Whale passed my request for information to a company called Bradtech ltd. I spoke to a very helpful man who made a few enquiries then recommended this one:- http://www.bradtech.ltd.uk/products/Wha ... -1215.html

'Pulling' wort through a CFC with a self priming pump

I was thinking of the pumps frequently used in boats and motorhomes for drawing fresh water as I have some experience with them. I've contacted Whale and am waiting for a reply (for some reason they asked where I live before giving an answer) to see if one of their pumps will work. I guess the...

'Pulling' wort through a CFC with a self priming pump

This would mean the pump would only have to handle cool liquids - has anyone tried it? Thanks Nick
