Hi guys.

I posted a topic in another forum about a more pressing topic related to this but thought I should make a new one.

Today the heating element on my Aussie Crown 40L urn died. I am now brewery-less, a horrible feeling. I really want to get back into brewing ASAP, and would appreciate some advice.

I would like to move to a 3V build, but I'm not sure if it's the time. I have a good amount of spare cash. I am probably willing to drop a grand on a brewery if it was say 100L or so.

The thing is, I am hopeless when it comes to practical things so what I really want, like my Crown Urn, is just a system that just goes, with minimal fuss. I don't want to have to mess around and build it over the evenings. I am really just interested in making beer.

Is there anybody you could recommend who could stick together a 3V system for under a grand? Alternatively, do you think I should just stick with BIAB? I suppose it would be possible to just buy a gas burner and a pot and go it that way, but I rather like brewing inside!

Would appreciate any advice you guys can give!

I went with bergland pots, 2 50l for hlt and boiler then a 38l thermopot for the mash tun. All bits needed and tools was less than £400.

+1 for the Malt Miller get 3 ss pots off him ask for whatever holes you want cutting, taps, sight glasses f.bottoms whatever. Pick and choose carefully and you can have a system to be proud of. The costs are higher than ordering piecemeal from abroad etc...But you get great at home service and excelent quality from him

Also look at the Home brew Builders site.

I'm the same as you, love brewing but hopeless at putting stuff together! I bought HLT, boiler, temp controllers and pumps from homebrewbuilder and have been really happy with my purchases! My mash tun was bought from Bergland (Germany) and I just replaced the tap with a ball valve -easy!

Thanks a lot for the responses guys.

I've asked the owner of Home Brew Builder if he could knock something like this together:

If I get a 50L pot there is the option to convert to 3V further down the line as well!

What do you think of this system? I personally think it looks fantastic!

Tim I think I saw a pic of your brewery somewhere, it looks gorgeous! So do Bergland supply pots with taps pre-installed??

Some of the Bergland thermo-pots come with small taps. The 70 litre one does, the 60 litre one doesn't. Not sure about the others.

Hi Econwatson,
Thanks, i love it! Yes the 70Litre thermopot comes with a tap and you just swap it out with a ball valve (theres a how to on the forum).
Also having a brew shed helps!
