    I apologise

Welcome back Jim. Eventually all Caucasean Heterosexual Males will be required to commit Hari Kiri at birth. Or begin a course of SOMA Aldus Huxley seems very prophetic in many ways.

    Stinger

I usually boil around 85 litres maximum and top up during the boil with any additional runnings giving Me 92L into the fermenters. With a 10% loss to yeast thats 18 gallons or 82L of finished beer. BZ

    extension leads

My tuppence worth is: Use two differant wall sockets and 2m wall paper steamer leads rated at 13 amps for hot conditions. It's better to be safe than sorry. Any house insurance will go up in smoke otherwise. It's not worth taking the risk. This is one of the reasons I've resisted selling...

    cheap pumps anyone?

They look similar to an auxilluary water pump off some modern cars. I tried one but it was not really up to the job of pumping heavier liquids like wort. Hope You have better luck!

    Global Warming

My take on it is this: We all know how CO2 aborption in water/beer is pretty much related to temperature. Therefore if there were some external factor causing the seas to warm any CO2 above equilibrium should be released into the atmosphere. Whether this is Human activity or Solar/Galactic in...

Saw this and thought of You!

It's a customer related issue that tied Me up for a few months but is now hopefully resolved. I drove over a 1000 miles trying to resolve it. Technically I could have walked away but I tried My best to provide the solution required. Basically I can not work for peanuts and that's the crux of...

    "Cock Ale"

One recipe for this that I saw in an 80's brewing book from Boots basically used a raw chicken that was pulverised to smash all the bones and then deftly thrown in raw. I am sure this was something that is supposed to have been done when making cider too. Never dared try it though! BZ

Heat exchangers and combi boiler - anyone been here before ?

My first thoughts are a) is it made of stainless steel? And b) are the coils full of some sort of deposit? If the answers are a) Yes and b) No then that looks a very interesting solution to a rims/herms system. BZ

    Liquoring back?

Liquoring back has been a subject that has been at the forefront of My attention this last month or so. I sold a system that the buyer does not want to liquor back at all and therefore has produced low yields I.E. not getting two 9 gallon casks worth from the fermenter. The 100L Mossbrew...
