    I have a really naff thermometer but it says the cold tap water is about 20c. Hydrometer is out by 5. i.e. 0.995 is the reading, what does that mean? When did this happen?

    Tastes alright, maybe a little too bitter, should have used less acidic hops, but learning about brewing piece by piece. Hopefully this time next year we're quiet familiar with extract brewing and are starting to price fancy equipment.

    Specific Gravity has been 1004 since Friday .. (The Coopers DVD says this is my Final Gravity but surely not if I've just added more sugar). Using the calculator on here though that's 5% and set tae climb a little more though right? (ooft!) Bottled today ... cleaned out most the Coopers Kit...

    OG - 1042 went relatively well I guess boiled and cooled hops for 15 minutes for a little flavour, also another little bit was boiled for just 5 and threw in at the end. Result is the temp being slightly high 28c but should be ok right? (Hoping a Scottish winter does it's thing...)
