    BIAB - A Few Questions ...

Hullo again ... Our 1st attempt at brewing w/ grains on 25 May has went a bit wrong (I think ..) We only bought 1 pot and were using a hob on an electric cooker. Our pal wanted to make bratwurst for the final and turned up the heat on the worng hob whilst we were mashing (supposed to be...

    Best Brew Pot?

Decided that we don't have space for pulleys etc. Think a collapsable collander and a stockpot is probably a good base to start AG with. Do People buy big pots from anywhere specific or do most folk just go to a local supermarket/cash and carry?

    Best Brew Pot?

I've had a wee read about BIAB but thought it was mainly a yank thing as they seem to consistently mention "Turkey Friers" on Youtube

    Best Brew Pot?

Hullo again We are contemplating doing an all grain brew but with basic equipment. We have 2 FVs and a camping stove. Thinking of buying a collapsable collander and use 1 FV for mash/sparge then boil the newly made wort in the Pot that we don't have yet with hops then add to 2nd FV, cool to...

    Dry "Hopping" With Fennel?

Hullo again! Not posted in a while as we haven't had many issues brewing relatively bland kit beers. Currently brewing is a Young's Stout kit with roughly 250g Demenera sugar, 500g Dark Spraymalt & 500g Soft Brown Sugar. It's been fermenting 10 days and although we're running at a decent...

Serving Beer From A "Wunderbar Thermo" ..

I bought one of these a while ago and gave up all hope of using it just to dispense draught beer before I got into home brewing. I need a "CO2 Adapter" going by the 'instructions'. This should then allow me to connect a soda stream bottle into the back of it. Any ideas what sort of place I...

    Lager Kits

we boiled the juice but I didn't want to add the colouring until we were ready to bottle. My pal who kind of got into the brewing hobby with me (who joint funded buying the bottles, kit etc) then seen we hadn't added the colouring and threw it in at the last minute, possibly on top of the yeast

    Lager Kits

    Lager Kits

Current brew has a Young's Lager Kit, I bought that Coopers Brew Enhancer stuff to go along with it and ABV is a naff 2.9%? Has something went wrong or are they well known for producing a weak outcome.

    Bottled Beer Problem...

less beer in bottles = more headspace = safer Least I would assume, but I'm not a science kind of guy

    Diluting Juice

Cordial, Squash etc didn't realise it was just up here that called it diluting juice

    Diluting Juice

I can't be the first person to think of adding diluting juice for the next brew, I take it there is a reason why no-one does it ... If anyone would like to reply with that reason and not just "it'll be honkin'" that'd be great... Cheers again

    Bottled Beer Problem...

That's not happened yet butif any beer was going to explode I'd hope it would be this one. The taste is a bit acquired.. The bigger plastic bottles with the screw tops and the longer necks don't quite "explode" on opening in the same way, but lesson learned.

    Bottled Beer Problem...

most of the neck was probably left as it was our first glass bottled beers we didn't wanting them exploding. Maybe we should have left them in the FV for a while longer. Bottles were batched with one teaspoon of sugar each. We did brew with 2 kilogram bags of sugar as well as some fruit...

    Bottled Beer Problem...

Recently we bottled a brew we reckon is around 7.7% (Problem is we don't have a decent thermometer or hydrometer to be definate). We bought a Young's bottle capper and washed out San Miguel 275ml bottles (as they're unbranded, once the label is off) Problem is when we open them they just...
