    LHBS

I went in my local shop last week. I only brew beer kits (for now anyway) and make country wines. I noticed the hike in prices against the internet and on better brew kits his price was a few quid above rrp on some items :o. Most stuff is at the going rate. Its a catch 22 because the hbs need to...

    I survived

Did ours after tea last night at local Tesco. In and out - no problem. Motherinlaw had her Tesco delivery this morning and half the stuff was out of stock so they had to go today as well. Didn't laugh much when father in law was telling me as his planned lazy paper reading morning was blown out...

    Keg to center parcs plan...

Just had a look at those on the Jigsaw site. Looks like the min order is 10, plus vat and delivery. It also looks like they are not re-useable and you need a tool at £34.90!!!! to fit the tap. Think i'd stick to the economy keg idea.

    Toffee Apple Cider Recipe (UPDATED!)

Hi all How long should it ferment for? It did the lava lamp bit and settled down. I racked it off after about 3 weeks but its been going now for about another three weeks :? There is a steady stream of bubbles and it is still quite cloudy with a bit of sediment. I thought I should have bottled...

    Magners specials

Anybody elsetried the Magners special ciders. I picked up the pear and ginger, spiced apple and rhubarb and spiced apple and honey. The rhubarb tasted a bit like cough mixture but the other two were good. Particularly liked the ginger one for something a bit different.

    Black Rock Cider Review

Update. Had a few more bottles. Tastes good - although a little more flovour would had been better. All bottles completely flat so far :( . I had to leave it an extra week or so in the FV as I was on holiday and assume the yeasties died. I prefer mine carbonated so am a little disappointed as...

    Coopers Canadian Blonde

I tried another bottle earlier. It was much clearer - in fact as clear as I was expecting. How gassy should it be? Mine are very gassy. I poured into a glass and it settled with the head short of the top. Came back a few mins later and the head had grown - all over the woktop :o . I drank a bit...

    Best Wine kits?

I was looking at getting a good stock of wine (from kit) built up. There are so many to choose from I don't know where to start and the prices vary greatly. Anybody got any recomendations. i have seen Belvino, Docs, Cantina and Magnum kits in my local HBS. are they any good?

I just got two 8 packs with two each of gold, pear, Green Goblin and Old Rascal in each pack from costco. Just over £1 per bottle. Well you have got to drink something whilst you are waiting for the Homebrew!

    Black Rock Cider Review

Well today was the day the instructions said it would be ready! I opened a bottle. It is very clear, pretty flat (or is lightly carbonated the correct term ?), doesn't have much flavour an a slight yeast smell. I think I will leave it a bit longer but not sure about the lack of fizz :?
