    Knackered batch?

The reading is now 1012 so it would appear it hasn't gone far ... however it tastes ok (relief) and is definitely not sweet like an unfermented wort. Wondering now if the sample I drew was just dodgy, or has become so after being left to stand for over a week (although it did get a good shake up...

    Knackered batch?

Hey everyone, I'm after a bit of advice ... Just got back from holiday and before I went I put a Woodfordes Sundew in the fermenter. I've done quite a few brews now so think I know what I'm doing, and this one was as per the instructions (with the exception of adding a hop tea) so straight...

    Lager drinker looking for alternatives!!

The Coopers Selection IPA is a nice little kit. Made exactly as per instructions (500g light DME and 300g sugar) it is nice and tasty, without being an overly hopped IPA. Mine took about 4 weeks to mature nicely, but after 3 months they were extremely good :drink:

    Woodfordes, Sundew Review

I've got this kit stashed and have empty fermenters at the moment so now looks like a good time to get it on the go. I am thinking of adding a hop tea to the kit though, made with cascade hops, and wondered if anyone else had done the same / similar?

    sticky labels

I've done it with inkjet printed labels and they turned out perfect. I brushed the milk directly onto the bottle instead of the label which I think help it not to run

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

Good to know!! Many thanks!

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

I've just finished bottling this and noticed on the last two bottles that the beer is already quite clear (I always bottle a few in clear glass to check on clarity easily). Is this going to be a problem for secondary? Or should there be enough yeast floating around in the beer for it not to be a...

    Fermentables in beer kit

It will raise it, but not dramatically. The DME is only about 80% fermentable so 500g will only be like adding 400g of sugar, but unlike adding sugar it will maintain the body of the beer. I've just done this kit and it has turned out lovely. It's sat in my PB and is a very sessionable pint...

    Coopers Carbonation Drops

I did the same experiment and found that using sugar was the better way to go as I could control more easily the amount of carbonation by varying the amount of sugar I used.

    cheap one can kits

Some of the Coopers kits (Sparkling Ale for example) can be made up using a can of Coopers LME which effectively gives you a two can kit. However the total cost for the extract and the LME comes close to, if not exceeds, the cost of purchasing a twin can kit.

    Newbie questions for clarification

Could always snap the lid into place and if it doe's start to "bulge" just ease a small part open and allow the excess CO2 out. With a positive pressure difference no air / oxygen should get into the bit whilst doing this. I've got a Wherry on the go myself, hopefully it'll be a cracking pint...

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

The grav is still holding steady at 1010 so that's three days now so in the bottle it goes. I've got a wherry that has been on the go two weeks now and is still showing some activity so think it's time to test the grav on that one as well!

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

I'm sure it'll work out ok, just maybe a little lower on the ABV :hmm:

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

They either rate it, or are short a few quid and want to flog some extra ingredients!! Going to leave it to clear for at least 6 weeks so I'll let you know how it turns out :drunk:

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

No they specifically mention a can of Coopers Light Malt Extract rather than the beer kit. Originally I figured it was only this required, making it like a twin can kit, but on reading the instructions and the forums it became clear that the extras were also recommended.

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

I used all of the above sugars as the instructions seemed to indicate (although not that clearly) that that was the way to go. After consulting with the forums on here they confirmed that it was all three sugars that I needed to add.

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

Thanks  I'll have a check of the gravity again and then decide. It went off like a rocket when I first put it into the FV so I'm surprised it's gone on this long! The temp has been monitored though out and has been between 19.4 and 22.4, averaging at 21, so a little on the high side...

Three weeks in FV and it's still going!!

Hi, I've had a Coopers Sparkling Ale in the FV for a little over three weeks now and the airlock is still bubbling. I played this one by the book with 300g brewing sugar, 500g light DME and a can of coopers light LME. SG came out at around 1056. The airlock looked like it had stopped a few days...

That sounds like a good plan. Cheers
