I used 1 drop per 500ml bottle on my 1st brew (Geordie lager), it's been just under 2 weeks since bottling but it's not as fizzy as I expected. More time needed I guess but just wondering as I've got my 2nd brew going (Coopers Australian Lager) if I should bottle up using 2 drops this time per 500ml bottle?

I've read people recommend 1 drop per 500ml for ales and 2 drops for lager, would most suggest this?

Won't be using them again but have 2 packs here so may as well use them up until gone! Cheers

Coopers site says 2 drops (6g of sugar) for a lager and its what I plan to do with my Coopers Oz Lager... That said, it's my first brew!

:D

Thanks, I will go with 2 drops then :thumb:

Although I'm tempted to try a few variations this time, a bottle each with 1 drop and normal sugar to see the difference :hmm:

I did the same experiment and found that using sugar was the better way to go as I could control more easily the amount of carbonation by varying the amount of sugar I used.

What temperature have the bottles been stored at? They need to be in the warm for 2 weeks and then in the cold for 2 weeks or preferably longer.

I would use two for Lager. I used one for my bitters but I've found it isn't enough to get a decent fizz, so I now batch prime.

yeah as RPT said, leave them in the house at room temp for 2 weeks then somewhere colder for another few weeks. if you normally bottle in glass bottles then do 1 or 2 in plastic bottles so you can test how hard the bottle is for carbonation.

Bottles have been kept at approximately 16-18C, was thinking to leave for another week to make 3 weeks inside then put in the garage. I will try batch priming next time as it seems the best way to go and stick to 2 drops per bottle this time. I did use 1 plastic bottle for my last brew to test for carbonation and it is actually pretty firm hence why I was a bit worried using 2 drops!
