Anyone know if 'probe sanitiser wipes' would be any good to sterilize:- temerature probe, float type hydrometer? Basicly the stuff you use more often during a brew! Here's what i was thinking of + technical data, just not sure if they are suitable though...

That just sounds kinky!! :grin: My train of thought was tube into the grommet my airlock used to go, down into a open top bottle of sterile water or vodka. Co2 can still escape and buble up through the liquid, oxygen and debris can't enter the tube through the liquid. my only worries are...

If you go down the temp controller route and get a unit like prolix linked to....... There are two units that look the same, the one prolix linked to is uk stock but the relay current is rated to 5amp, Some of the other Hong Kong units are rated 10amp for the relay. I mention this as alot if...

My first larger brew seems to have finished with a poor ABV :hmm: Youngs larger kit, coopers brew enhancer2 1kg Starting SG was 1.046 and has now been 1.032 for 4 days. I pitched the yeast 7 days ago so fermentation seems to have only taken 3 days I know my temps were less than perfect...

Picked up a larder fridge today also, £30 ebay :clap: Now to order me the controller and heater :D

Cheers guys, put my mind at reast! the yeast was the basic stuff from the young's kit to which i added coopers brew enhancer2 for sugar.

Artyb nailed it on the head, also in Tesco, weston favell centre. Nice sized brew section, mostly youngs stuff(if not all). Head staight down to the tv's and is off on the right. :thumb: Happy brewing!! :cheers:

Ummmmm, should i have a sulpher smell when fermenting a larger kit? youngs larger kit, pitched yeast this monday, temp 22c, starting SG about 1.046, current SG 1.032 My first brew and am unsure if it should smell like that!!!
