I tried jellied eels once, never again

Although, as grim as some of the stuff mentioned here may be, I used to occasionally have the leftover beef dripping from a Sunday dinner on toast as a young 'un.

Ah, the rare delicacy of getting the black crunchy bits amongst the greasy smearing of cow fat...it's a miracle most of us survived with diets like that :laugh8:

I've been watching a British camper on YouTube whose breakfast usually has black pudding. Is it normal to have it almost every morning?
Since it is made from blood, will it prevent people who enjoy it from having anemia? I haven't seen this in the States.

Well, every morning would be a bit much I will have it for four or five mornings then have a break, I imagine with all the iron in the blood it wouldn't be too healthy. But it is pretty well balanced with fibre from the oats and barley iron protein and minerals from the blood and the fat makes it tastier.
The Keto black pudding would definitely be unhealthy to be eating every day.

Bacon and Egg (along with sausage) were the famous English staple because they were affordable, indeed people kept chickens at home for eggs and a lot of people had a pig. The pig would be fed scraps and bulked up over the course of six months, a butcher would "lead it up the garden path" (that's where that saying comes from) and butcher it. Meats like beef and lamb were much rarer treats.

I believe it was the Saxons who introduced black pudding (Blutwurst) to the British Isles, and a recent genetic survey found the English are predominantly Anglo-Saxon.

I'm used to sausage (patties or links), eggs, toast/biscuits for a full plate. But I never have had beans for breakfast unless I had some baked beans left over and ate them with buttered bread.

I never really got the whole 'full English' thing in terms of breakfast, maybe I'm just a little fragile in the morning, but a mug of black coffee and a bowl of Frosties is enough of a challenge for me.

Full English for lunch or dinner, absolutely, black pudding included. Baked beans however are the foulest work wrought of the devil himself.

The baked beans are good or bad, depending on their sauce. I have one can/tin of baked beans that I opened with a sauce I did not like. But my regular brand or homemade ones are perfect for my taste buds.

I second baked beans on bread and butter, for some reason is preferable to on toast. I will eat baked beans on toast but just prefer bread and butter.
We have a herring over here which isn't a true herring called a Tommy Ruff caught in South Australia and they are smoked like the traditional herring in the UK. I was staying at a guest house operated by a Londoner he cooked them in tea and they were delicious. I do buy the Scottish kippers which are available from Woolworths but have to cook them on the outside stove, they stink the house out.
Smoked fish were introduced to the UK by the Vikings.
