Doesn't the research just prove that if you want reduce the size of a pint you need to increase the price by about 10%?
If the pub loses 10% of it's profit it has to increase it's prices. The cost of the actual beer is a very small part of the end cost. And I doubt any government would want to lose 10% of the alcohol duty they take!

I don't really see many beers available at 3-3.5% abv out there. Not sure what the answer is, but I think that's a shame as such beers used to be common and if well made could be decent (bitters, milds and the like).
Well there is not that many for sure because they dont sell well and pubs sell beers that sell. But most of the pubs round here usually have a 3.5-3.8% ish golden ale kind of beer on, especially over summer.

Ah, so continues the absolutely necessary erosion of personal liberty!

I for one feel warm and fuzzy in the notion that, very soon, I won't be saddled with the heavy burden of choice.

Free gear Keir and co will tell us all what's best for us, good old establishment...
Did you actually read the article?

Labour said that not only did they not agree with it, but Keir enjoyed a pint and they did not agree with this idea.
Some Tory Lord, on the other hand, supports it.

Don't believe everything G Beebies tells you.

I did, I was being sarcastic, but given Starmer's rabidly puritanical views it wouldn't surprise me if he did try to reintroduce prohibition.
Right, but he didn't. And you made that up anyway.

I've just seen your comments in the Covid thread too. I'll put you on mute too. Clearly right wing rabid
nonsenser.

Oh hang on, you're from Gosport too. Now things click into place.

The only choice you have now is between the measure the are allowed by law so there’s no difference, if the size of one of those measures changes you still have the same number of options, all of which are controlled and regulated. It’s like you’re looking for something to riled up about.

Is beer the leading cause drink related cancers, though? If not, this will have no effect.

We all know the most inefficient form of excessive drinking is pints of 3-5% beers sold in pubs. And is regularly shunned by most **** heads for wine and spirits. If you are going to drink anything, beer is the healthiest option. The least amount of ethanol by volume, and contains Xanthohumol.
A colossal amount of calories though. If you want to end up obese with type 2 diabetes beer is the best alcohol to help you achieve that aim.

Starmer is as a duplicitous autocrat regardless of how you vote.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, that comment was intented to be rather tongue in cheek.

But yes, I am a bit riled up about the current government, as I also said earlier, I wouldn't be surprised by any new bans or restrictions they decide to impose.

Two-thirds of a pint is common in London (and doubtless other cities too), partly, I assume, to disguise the eye-watering prices!
