I did see some Johnnie walker behing the bar in the piano bar last night. Might have to enquire as to the price. But not hopeful of a good outcome in that regard.
You know it’ll be worth it when you put that glass to your lips and the smell hits your nose - fruit, spice, vanilla, a little smoke. 😉

You could ask to try the local stuff, in Cyprus I had their local brandy and it was better than Courvoisier at less than half the price.

They do have whiskey called “jacky” in the all inclusive but I was afraid to try it. The heat didn’t add to whiskey drinking either as the air conditioning only cools to about 30

Actually not bad at all. Very burboun like with lots of brown sugar / caramel notes and very smooth not tasting high in alcohol at all. Not sure how it would leave you in the morning though

It possibly wouldn’t make the grade at home but in your needy state… 😂

The brandy I had in Cyprus was fine, no bad effects in the morning. In future I’ll actually ask for it in preference to the expensive brands.
 
Thanks to @Donegal john (and my gateway beer), I’m moving on to my whisky much earlier than usual. I was going to have my usual tipple of Talisker but decided to try this Oak Select Laphroaig someone bought me. It’s quite smooth and the oak is quite strong but it’s more “woody” than I expected.

After 2 or 3 glasses of Talisker (I much prefer Talisker), I’m finishing with a glass of port. I do wish though this was the vintage reserve which is pretty damn good.

laphroig 10 is a pretty “marmite” whiskey I think. It’s either love it or hate it. The oak select is a bit more main stream and smoother. Both benifit from a few drops of water and 30 mins in the glass before drinking. I like peat forward drams but they are not for everyone
 
We went out got a pub lunch where I enjoyed a pint of cask Proper Job and a few Tapas.

Home now and I might be drinking the last pint of my cask bitter although I’m hoping I can squeeze one more off the top of the sediment 🤞.

Earlier today I brewed a Belgian Dubbel so I’m off now to update my brewday thread, back soon 😉.
