To steal one of the best jokes at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019.

I’ve got an Eton themed advent Calender, where all the doors are opened for me by my Dad’s contacts.

Well it's all part of the brand as well.

But since moving to No 10 there seems to be a concerted effort to disguise a receding hairline, after going through a "tidy" phase during the leadership campaign :

Boris could treat himself to one of these Trump wigs.

I see that Boris is now blaming the Care Homes for the tragedy of all those deaths. How low will this guy go to put the blame elsewhere, its an insult to the people working in care homes with
No PPE
No testing
Having infected people dumped on them.

However someone will come on this thread and defend him and his incompetent government.

Not me! I think I dodged the bullet on Care Homes.

I was in Lincoln Hospital after an operation for a fractured femur when they offered to send me to a Care Home in Skegness for convalescence. Luckily, I refused and actually signed myself out of hospital.

Looking back - "Phew!" athumb.. athumb.. athumb..

Well I've not heard what he said, but whatever he said about care homes should be viewed against care home deaths in other countries. Is there any country that can say they really did protect those in the homes. USA, Sweden, Belgium? So I think it would have been better for him to just keep his mouth shut.

You know maybe, just maybe by the time it was realised it was on our shores it was already in the care home environment, lets not forget the visitors to the carehomes. pre covid-19 the number of visitors I saw when visiting hospital NOT sanisizing hands it's no surprise care homes were going to catch it when visitors to the elderly were so blase about personal hand hygene. Of course banning all visitors from visiting care homes as soon as italy started local lockdown would have been seen as an abuse of human rights.

As far as incompetent governments go, You can only judge by a governments actions because its easy to promise stuff when not in power. So I'd put the UK behind the swiss but ahead of the EU. Our previous governments - lib dem promised no tuition fees and they caved over that. And Mr. Blair went to war and mr brown sold the gold & screwed the pension funds, prior to that Thatcher destroyed heavy industry and she got in because of a 3 day week and unions that had got out of control.

My point is if you look back pretty much all governments have done bad things.

Personally I prefer to remain positive I heard somewhere optimists live longer. Hold bad performance to account by all means. Equally recognise and be thankful for the positive things.

Quite so. I'm optimistic that Johnson, Raab, Patel, Cummings, Gove, Mogg et al will come to a particularly sticky end. My optimism knows no bounds. On a positive note, we're coming up to July 14th over in this neck of the woods. I'll have a few pints of my mushroom cider and dream that instead of the Bastille, it's number 10 that's being stormed. :laugh8:

I'll be 65 years of age in December this year and have lived through quite a number of UK governments during that time but I can't remember any one of them having as much staggering incompetence as this current shower. Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of the Tories so I may be accused of bias. But come on guys....... open you're eyes.

My point is if you look back pretty much all governments have done bad things.
And please let's not get into any "whataboutery" of previous administrations abilities or faults: it's plain to see that this lot take that biscuit hands down.

I wholeheartly agree with those sentiments but at the moment I'm struggling to remain optimistic with this craven lot in charge of the nations present and future. It's not going to end well.

Someone did come on to defend this government as I said. It's not about party politics it's about the competence to govern and no one ever has been this bad. We are the laughing stock of Europe and it will get much worse come 1st January.

Which government are you comparing the Tories to i cannot remember who was in power last time we had a global pandemic.

We are the laughing stock of Europe

Really, where did you get your latest sweeping statement from?

You seem to be under a misconception that people who disagree with the sweeping statements you regularly scattergun this thread with with are defending the Tories nothing could be further from the truth.

Q1 Either David Lloyd George or Edward III.

How did they handle it and can you provide some links so the rest of us can make the same comparison?

Q2 My ex Nestle colleagues from Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain and France who I keep in touch with.

So a small selection of your friends views on this makes us a laughing stock worldwide, you really couldn't make this up.
