We have umteen tropical fish, 2 cats and 2 tropical turtles.

The turtles and tank are for sale if anyone is interested as we don't really have the room for them anymore.

i've got bad news.

Sadly i'm now down to one cat :(

I was at the vets till the early hours this morning after Ruby came home with severe trauma to her eye (i wont go into detail, but it was horrible)

the vet said it was classic signs of an RTA.

she had several internal injuries, and I had to have her put down  was such a horrible experience, for both of us

Rest in Peace my little Ruby

Stew, Been there, know exactly what you are feeling, it's never pleasant

it's a horrible feeling :(

i'm glad my girlfriend didn't have to see her that way. Ruby was her favourite. To see her in the state she was in, in her final moments with us would've broken her :( it tore me to pieces and i was a complete mess at the vets  worse still was the vet didn't exactly have a good bedside manner.

and then there was the documents i had to read and sign to put her to sleep while Ruby was lying there crying in pain. argh it's hurting just going through it all as i write this.

i just keep having horrible recollections of her eye nearly to the point of bursting from it's socket from the pressure of blood behind it  sorry if you're squeemish but i had to get that off my chest :(

people that have never had pets will probably look on this and say "it was just a cat" but even though Ruby was only with me 10 months, it hurts just the same if not more than when my nan died earlier this year. she was after all, part of the family.

at least my boss has been very understanding when i turned up four hours late to work today. he even bought me two beers at lunchtime to temporarily numb the pain. he's going through the same thing with his cat who's got cancer :(

I'm sorry Brewstew.

I've had two go in the last couple of years. One was a hit and run by a Taxi driver - I'm just glad the missus didn't have to see the state of him. Luckily he was already dead by the time I found him.

More recently, another one was all normal, then just made a funny noise and collapsed. This was about 9pm. Died in my arms in the Taxi on the way to the Vet's. The vet was fantastic though, he didn't charge us for an emergency call out and even did a PM free-of-charge. Never came back with a definitive reason though. They think it was something he ate.

I'm so paranoid about the other cat, and the two new kittens. I'll break my heart when the older one goes

that's terrible jb :(

i'm paranoid about merry now too. she's alot more street smart than Ruby. but i'm so **** scared of letting her out now. and we live on what i thought was a quiet crescent road.

the weirdest thing though, was that even though Merry and Ruby didn't get along... it seemed merry knew something was up. she kept sniffing around the empty cat box, and roaming around my car when i was sat on the doorstep smoking a cig and waiting for my girlfriend to arrive.

it's almost like she was looking for her. she picked up on my reaction though cos she was hovering around me and meowing. really not normal for her unless she wants food, but she had some. normally she runs off to do her thing when i let her out, but she sat by me and came straight back in when my girlfriend turned up.

We've had 3 killed on the road . . . luckily all clean quick kills . . . The worst for me was the last kitten that we'd had for 6 months . . .just started being really lethargic and not eating . . . took him to the vets, who immediately started a drip, and admitted him . . . . 48 hours later I had to sign the paperwork and say goodbye . . . Liver failure from all accounts . . . Hardest part was telling the kids though . . . . Had another one for 4 months now, which is giving all the older ones a really hard time, and is a joy to watch . . . He's just come back from the vets sans testes so is being somewhat grumpy.

Here is one of the adults 'Broken'

Cats are funny like that. Two of ours never got on, but the remaining one was so quiet and "attentive to our needs" for lack of a better phrase when Caesar died.

i've got the telling the kid part still to come. weekend after next :(

that's one cute kitty :) beautiful colour :thumb:

thanks mate :thumb:

i'll be convening in the "whats everyone drinking" topic until i fall over

Here are the other two that I can find
Tom.jpg
Gizmo.jpg

Tom Kitten (Yeah . . . well he was 11 years ago ;) ) and the latest Gizmo (Or git mo as he is more frequently known). Had a bad time with him just after we got him with an eye infection that took three weeks to clear up, still it didn't stop him trying to beat up the other three. Funnily Tom is the one that tolerates him best of all, and Tom is most definitely Boss cat.

hehehe Git Mo!
Yeah, your walking down the stairs, running your hand down the handrail, when all of a sudden you have a kitten clinging to it having launched himself from the other side. . . . . Or he decides to have a go at hamstringing you . . . . when you are walking down the stairs

It's been out in the garden

And brought in a worm

Which it's promptly chewed up

And now its sat there looking all confused cause the worm doesn't want to play any more
