I know, I know, but it is for my daughter, honest.

I wanted to get my eldest daughter involved and this seemed the ideal way. I bought the kit from Cutlacks in Cambridge (they have a very good selection of HB and probably need local support to keep it up) and got it on, on Saturday.

Used Tesco 5ltr bottles (Highland Spring?) to try to keep it light as we have hard water.
All really simple to make but after adding 1kg brewing sugar my starting gravity was a strangely low 1.02 so I quickly added another 300g (dissolved) with a total of 22 ltrs water and got it back up to 1.042.

Its been on a couple of days now but fermentation is not hugely active, i'm used to a bit more vigour.

Anyway, I plan to put half of it in a 9ltr barrel (first time) and the rest in bottles and it should be ready for xmas.

Anyone done one of these?

Done the Peach and Passionfruit and Rasberry and Mango, the most popular. Don't expect brain, spew or krausen! I did and there's none lol don't leave it on the yeast to long either, you can get a tasty brew with an eggy first whiff.

Rob.
