So, I've just finished a fermentation and while I've not checked, I'll definitely have a decent yeast bed left over.

My question is can I just transfer my newly brewed wort (planning on doing another tomorrow) straight on to the last yeast bed?

Last brew was a light one so won't impart too much in the way of colour into the new one.

I'm guessing I should give it a good stir and aeration to kick start it back again.

Any issues people see with this? Can you do it? Seems a bit... Like I'm cheating.
 
I have done this a few times, most recently from a stout to an RIS. Keep the old yeast covered after racking, I aerated the new batch separately then just poured on top, it’ll start within hours and ferment fast, need a bit of headspace above to prevent airlock blowing IMO.
 
You might find using the whole amount that it's give you higher attenuation than you want. I did it once, and only use half the cake, and still got higher attenuation from over pitching... lol

I'd collect say half in a sterilised jar, with a tiny bit of the previous beer on top of it to protect it, a lid too. Put the wort from your new beer in a clean FV, pour off the old beer from the jar, pitch the cake into your new wort like you would liquid yeast. Et voila. If your not using it the same day, pop the jar in the fridge, fetch it out a few hours before you want to use it so it can warm to room temperature.
