Need some advice please?

Only been brewing for a month or so and I’ve definitely got the bug, gone straight in the deep end and started with an AG setup, all abit of a learning curve so for but enjoying it!

Got my 6th brew (out of diy dog) planned for tomorrow night / Saturday morning, gone to smack my wyeast after getting back from LHBS & it has burst slightly in the top corner when doing so, squirting a little out in the process. I’ve done a little research off off google (no definitive answer) before posting hear & have emptied the remaining yeast including activator into a protein shaker, (only thing I had at hand) I’ve washed it in star san & covered with tin foil, will this still be ok to pitch into wort or do I need to buy a new pack?

Thanks in advance

Best suggestion I have is to try to "start" the yeast you have going by making up a starter. If you have any DME to hand, then 100g and some cooled boiled water will give the smack pack yeast all it needs to make a flying start.

If you can't do this then just go with what you have done. It will be better preparation than many beers that all came out right.

Cheers, got no extract at hand so fingers crossed nothing nasty has found its way in, wasn’t much that escaped, just ‘broke the seal’ so to speak. How easy would it be to spot an issue with the remaining yeast, if any?

Not sure that any issue would manifest itself at all at this stage. I can only suggest pitching the yeast into some beer wort ASAP.

Managed to get time to brew after work, pitched the yeast out of the shaker last night & just starting to get some bubbling through the air lock this morning! Happy days!
