Would you buy a Braumeister?

I know they are costly but, just for arguments sake, if a Braumeister worked out no more expensive than a normal 3 tier system, would you buy one?

I know for many of you half the fun of brewing is mucking about with bits of pipe, hoses, pumps and so on but I would really like the ease and consistency that a Braumeister provides. Especially the ease of stepped mashes. Hardly a brew day goes by without something either leaking, spurting hot water at me or spitting wort on the kitchen floor.

I think I would be more inclined to brew smaller quantities, more often and experiment more with different styles.

Just wondering.

If I won the lottery, it'd be on my list of things to get, but failing that, I'll stick to what I've got. The advantage of the 3 tier system is that you can upgrade bits so you can spread the cost of the brewing equipment over time. My first AG equipment was a FV and a 15 litre pot (£35 in total), and it's been added to since then to be the adequate system it is now. There's still more I'd like to add, but I'll do that as and when.

If space was an issue then yes but otherwise I'd rather have a big shiny 3v setup with Herm's and maybe some form of automation built in.

Would love one, my LHBS has a 50L version it is a beauty! Probably a future purchase will see how brewing with an electrim goes first.:hat:

I've been given the use of a 50l one this month while its owner moves house.

I think it's actually quite good for someone who has a nice orderly routine and will stick to it (ahem, Germans...). Particularly if you haven't got a lot of space.

For those of us newly getting excited by the hobby or with Gear Acquirement Syndrome, it won't help.

Nor is it good for people who like big beers regularly - it doesn't have space for all the grain.

I won't buy one (new) because I'm in the tinkering phase. But I will enjoy playing with it (and having 50l brews) for a while!
