Its been standing for 7 days and it seems as though it hasnt cleared at all and still looks orangey.
Im using a youngs medium white kit.
The instructions yas it should take between 7 and 10 days.
Should i have transferred it to nother DJ when i added the finnings?
Cheers

The instructions that the kit makers give are very optimistic, your best bet is to use a hydrometer to check the SG towards the end of fermentation.

Dry 0.980-1.000

Medium 0.995-1.005

Sweet 1.005-1.020

You can then choose to rack off the wine at an appropriate gravity and stun the yeast with 1 campden tablet per gallon or kill it with potassium sorbate (sold as wine stabilser). If you like drinking tramp-juice then you might get something ready in 7-10 days, otherwise reckon on wine taking at least a month.

It's very hard, when you start out, to build up sufficient stocks that waiting 2 or 3 months or longer does not worry you, but that's your best bet. Make larger quantities and then some gets to be stored before it gets tasted. I expect wine to be at least 3 months old before I taste it and some 'country' wines I'l leave for a yearor so.

right ok, so shall i just bottle it then? the campden tablet and stabiliser was added a week ago, but they said to leave it to stand until clear, which it hasn't done.

What you need now is the magic ingredient :thumb:
